I recall the night Oliver asked me to join him. He asked me something I thought I would never do in a million years.
I could have become nothing.
I did this willingly. He followed through and gave me the life I wanted. He never changed and I was never forced into anything else. The sad part, is that I enjoy this life I live. I enjoy that Oliver doesn't force me to do anything. The day came for me to fulfill my end of the deal.
I'm no hero and yet,
I always feel like someone else is watching me, the true hero.
A thud.
My thoughts are interrupted by a scream. It's Oliver screaming. I rush over to the source of the scream to find Gabriel on top of a knocked out Oliver.
"Gabriel? How did you-"
"Turns out your boyfriend was the one who kidnapped me like five times already."
"What...?"
"Yeah so I've started wearing bulletproof vests and stuff. You get used to it after the third kidnapping." He grins from ear to ear.So that's how.
I run up to him and hug him as tight as I can. The moment doesn't feel real. Nothing can describe the pure joy overwhelming me in this one moment.
"He threatened me to kill you, Gabe. He already killed Thomas and-" my eyes well up at the thought.
"We'll sort out the details later. For now, let's make sure this sucker stays dead."We both laugh at the thought.
Maybe this is the happiest I'll ever be, maybe this happiness will last for decades after this whole ordeal is over but maybe, just maybe, I can finally say that,
It's best not to probe in foreign territory.
