It was finally here the day we left Hogwarts for summer break, I had a slight hangover from the party last night, but it was nothing compared to the feeling I had in my stomach from my fight with Sebastian.I sat in my now empty dorm looking around and taking in these last blissful moments of the year. I didn't want to leave, Hogwarts was my home now I had made so many friends that are now like my family, I defeated countless poachers, goblins and dark wizards including Ranrok himself.
But I also lost so many things along the way, my mentor Professor Fig, he found me at that horrible orphanage and took me under his wing, he believed in me which is something that I've never experienced before. I also lost one of my best friends, actually my first friend that I made here at Hogwarts even though he was still there it felt like he was gone, like he is just a shadow of who he used to be. I also lost myself along the way, I could feel it like a dark shadow taking over it was draining away all my happiness and everything that made me, me. I just feel numb all the time now.
I stand up and head to the door taking one last glance at the room before leaving. I walked through to the common room which was now empty with everyone leaving on the train, but I wasn't going on the Hogwarts Express back to kings cross station, Professor Weasley invited me to stay with her over the summer so I didn't have to go back to the orphanage.
As I walk over to the spiral stairs to leave the common room I see someone standing by the windows that look out to the black lake, It was Sebastian, He stood there elegantly leaning against the brick wall while staring out at the lake, the greenish blue glow of the lake highlighted his face in a magical way.
I wanted to walk up those stairs and avoid him, after what he said and did last night I felt so much anger towards him but for some unknown reason my heart was still longing for him. It was like every muscle in my body was being pulled towards him like I was stuck in a strong current. I sighed as I walked over to him, he didn't notice I was there he was still staring out into the abyss of the lake.
"Looking for mermaids are we?" I teased as I lent on the back of the couch that was positioned across from the window. he looked at me with a surprised look, "Something like that" He let out a small smile as he looked back out the window. We both stood there in silence looking out at the black lake, well truthfully I was looking more at Sebastian than at the lake.
"Shouldn't you have left for the express by now?" He asks in a concerned tone
"Oh I'm not catching the train, I'm actually staying with Professor Weasley this summer, which should be nice. At least I'll be close to Poppy, Natty and Ominis." I babbled in excitement.
"Well, at least you'll have ALL your friends close by" he said in a sarcastic way.
"What do you mean by that Sebastian?" I ask as he turns to face me with a cold look in his eyes.
"Oh because we aren't friends anymore right? you've moved on and found another 'meaning' in life! whatever that means." He scoffs at me.
"You didn't even talk to them, the keepers, you had the chance to save Anne, to take away her pain." He continued as he now adjusted his posture from against the wall and slowly made his way over to me.
"Sebastian please, you didn't see what the magic could do it was dangerous it wouldn't have saved her it would have stripped her of everything, all her emotions she would have been a shell." I tried to explain as tears start to pool in my eyes.
"how do you know that would have happened when you didn't even at least try it." He yelled at me.
"You had all that power at your fingertips and you chose to lock it away and discard all our efforts to save Anne. You could have saved Fig, FUCK, you could have saved everyone with that power if you just at least fucking tried." He shouted as tears now streamed down my face, I look away from him hoping he will stop.
"But you never cared about me or Anne or anyone." he sneered as he now stood over me with his hands by his side in tight fists.
"SEBASTIAN, That's enough" Ominis's voice echoes behind me, I turn to see him walking toward us with his wand out in front of him "How dare you speak to her like that you ungrateful..." I grab Ominis and stop him before he continued.
"Please let's just go" I whispered to him as my tears now turned into a full sob.
"Go I'll catch up with you in a second" Ominis sighed,
I ran towards the stairs but before I went up them I turned and waited behind the wall just out of sight.
"Oh piss off Ominis, You trail her like a lost puppy and it's honestly just pathetic" he spat at Omins as he started to pace between the window frames.
"What is your problem, why are you doing this?" Ominis scolded
"I wanted to save Anne but SHE couldn't do what was necessary, none of you can" Sebastian shouted even louder than he was before.
"you're joking, right? Why would you treat her like this after everything she has done for you?" Ominis questioned in disbelief.
"Done for me she hasn't done anything for me but crush all my hopes and dreams of getting my sister back" Sebastian was now in a full-on rage, I have never seen him like this before it was scary.
"Wow, you are so stubborn Sebastian, it really baffles me how you only see and hear what YOU want." Ominis chuckled
"That girl you just belittled is the sweetest kindest soul and she did everything in her power to save Anne for YOU, she wasn't doing it for herself or Anne she was doing it for you Sebastian." Ominis screamed at him making Sebastian freeze in place.
"Not even god himself can save Anne, and everyone including Anne knows that, but you, you are going to lose everyone who has ever loved you in search of something that doesn't exist."
"God Sebastian, She killed Rookwood for you, not for herself, she took the cruciatus curse for you, She has always been there for you, who do you think stopped Anne and I from turning you in, Amara did she's always been there for you standing up for you, protecting you. Your so stupid for not seeing her."
Sebastian's anger became guilt as he turned and lent against the window with his arm above his head.
"She's never thought she was good enough, but did you have to make it worse?" Ominis continued ranting.
"You treated her like nothing like she didn't matter, yet she still stuck around thinking you would change. You ruined her."
"And now you've just shattered her heart into a million pieces. And worst of all, you took away the wonderful person she was before you."
"So you need to wake up Sebastian before you do any more damage to the people that love you." Ominis scolded as he walked away, leaving Sebastian to reflect on his poor choices and drown in his guilt.
I ran up the stairs and out the front door before Ominis would notice I was standing there listening to him, I leaned against one of the stone pillars at the entrance and pretend as if I was waiting there for him the whole time.
"Are you alright?" Ominis asked as he pushed open the common room doors
"Yeah I'm alright" I sighed
"It feels like he is gone like that isn't our same Sebastian anymore," I say as I began to cry again.
"Hey - Hey, It's alright he's still there I promise he just needs a bit of time," he says as he reaches out and places his cold hand on my cheek and proceeds to gently wipe away my tears with his thumb.
"Sebastian has never really known how to control his emotions properly, He has been through a lot, and he only ever had one source of affection which was Anne, but now that she has removed him from her life he has no one - well kind of, he is a bit oblivious," he says with a slight chuckle.
"Anyways are you ready to go," Ominis asked with a comforting smile
"Definitely" I sniffled making our way to the central hall to meet Professor Weasley.
