It's a game...again, the same game but always a different twist, this time we had a timer. Three green hearts marked on my wrist, just like before. Everyone scattered, just like before. Someone would become the boogeyman, just like before. But this time was different. Looking down at my wrist, tied to the same wrist with the hearts on it was a small hourglass, green sand falling down. A constant reminder of our time limit.
This time I wouldn't be left behind. First was Jimmy after 3rd life, then Pearl and Cleo after Last life, now Cleo once more. I began to gather resources as quickly as I was able too.Conituning to monolog in my head. I mean, I know it wasn't their fault. They simply forgot, like always. Everyone had, everyone always forgot, except me.
My Fish-like tail whipped behind me as I waited for the iron to smelt. Continuing to think.I know none of them wanted to leave, I mean they weren't even given a choice. But no matter how mmuch I know that...It doesn't make it easier. This time I won't let it happen again. I'll go it alone, I know I can make it by myself. No team up's this time. Thinking to myself as I collected the materials I'd smelted. Making sure it was all in there as something interesting happened. Some of the glowing green sand elegantly flew out of the hour glass forming writing in front of me. It was mesmorizing
Choosing the boogeyman...

My breathing quickened as I readied for the results, hoping it wouldn't be me, not right away.
You are the boogeyman.
After reading those words, the sand letters in the air turned red and went back into the hour glass, shifting the colour of that sand as well. My heart sank, sighing as I walked out of the hole I'd made.
"I should just get it over with quickly..." I stated , exiting my hole.
"It is definitely not me Martin. Definitely not me." Over hearing Etho state. I must be nearby them. He was talking with Martin as I almost fully returned to ground level.
"That didn't sound convincing I'm just going to say." Cutting in, about to go to the surface when I changed my mind.
"Yeah, right?!" Agreed Martin, before I disappeared just below the surface once more. Deciding it would be better if I gear up first. Placing down a crafting table and I begin to craft. Making boots, it was all the armour I could get at the moment, but it wasn't the most important thing I needed. Crafting an axe, afterwards I procced to break the crafting table, then finally set off to get my first kill.
Arriving at the surface once more, I act as naturally as I could. Though it was tricky to find someone, it seemed that everyone had already paired. Wandering between groups, hoping to find a straggler off by themself. But there was no luck yet. Eventually I ended up in a group with Skizz and Impulse. They chatted, I jokingly threatened to steal or murder their cow, until eventually Impulse left... Leaving only Skizz, and I.
Alone.
Now was my chance. My opportunity to be rid of this curse...
"You know Scott." Skizz states, turning to face me with a genuine smile as he spoke, I quickly hid my axe behind my back, startled. "Life is short. You have to cherish the moments you have, and the people you're with." Looking out at the group of people in front of them, I could only see Skizz's left eye now, the one that glowed green to show what life he was on, part of the life I was going to take
It caused me to regret what I was about to do. But this was my best chance, my only chance.
"Sometimes we don't realize how short it is." Repling as I pull out my axe once more.
"Wha-?"
"I'm sorry Skizz." With a red glow surrounding my eyes as I strike him down.
Skizzleman was slain by Smajor.
Looking down at the hour glass tied around my wrist with purple thread. The red hue receded as more sand was added, and something could be read across the face of the glass.
+1 hour
I felt bad for Skizz, I truly did. But, Skizz would forget about it, just like always...
Wandering around once more, gathering resources in between meeting different groups, two other boogey men were chosen. I somehow managed to avoid both of the kills. I'd met the Bad Boys, the group with Jimmy, husband. Fidgeting with my ring the whole time I was around him, hoping he'd remember.
A family called the Clockers who lived at spawn. Cleo some how became Bdubs and Scar's adoptive mother, and Etho becoming the dad who left.
Then there was the T.I.E.S. The one's who I was currently with.
"Hey Skizz!" Stating, as I made my way to the island Skizz was standing on.
"Hey Scott!" He replies, waving at me with a smile.
"Sorry, about me killing you, which lead to you dying to Bdubs." I apologized, genuinely.
"Oh no problem! It was kind of funny how it worked out honestly. The whole lead up and everything." He replied, a genuine smile on his face.
"Yeah, still sor-"
"I GOT ONE!!!" Etho shouted, zooming through the water in front of us with a cow in the back of his boat. Impulse following behind him on land.
" Nice one Etho!" Skizz shouts in reply, at the same time, I noticed three familiar figures approaching down the hill. The Bad Boys.
"Better hide it, the Bad Boys are coming. If Joel sees a cow in a boat he'll go for it."
"HIDE THE COW!! HIDE THE COW!!!" People shout as The Bad Boys charged down the hill, Etho paddling away.
"Okay. Get it! Get it! Get that cow!!" Jimmy shouts, over everyone else. But Etho gets out of hitting range.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU REPLACED ME WITH A COW ETHO!!" Joel shouts, standing on the edge of the hill nearby. What? I thought, I'd recognized what that was from. Last time. Double life. Etho and Joel were the boat boys, but how did they remember this time? Nobody ever remembered. I had tried in last life to get Jimmy to rember, when I gave him a poppy, but nothing.
But if Etho and Joel remembered last time... Could Jimmy remember me?
Maybe, this time would be different after all...
A gill can dream right?
