No Chance

I take a deep breath as I look at myself in the mirror. I chose to wear a burgundy crop top, paired with some high waisted jeans and chelsea boots. Is what I'm wearing right for this school? I have no idea, I've only ever worn uniform to school before. I've styled my long blonde/brown hair into loose curls framing my face.

I glance at the time and grab my bag. Taking one last look in the mirror I walk out my room and into the kitchen.

"Hey good luck today honey." My mum says with a warm smile.

"This is going to suck." Is all I have to say in reply.

"You might surprise yourself! Come on you need to leave or you'll be late. You know where you're going yeah?"

"Mhm." I say as I close the door behind me and head out onto the heaving streets. The sheer amount of people here is dizzying.

I decide not to battle with the enigma that is the subway today. I can't be late for my first day. I lean out and attempt to hail a taxi. Surprisingly one pulls up after no time. I guess it isn't as hard as I thought it would be. I give the driver the address of the school and off I go.

"Hi my name's Jennifer, I'm new this term - I mean semester." I say clumsily to the person behind the desk at the reception.

"Ah yes of course here's your schedule just head down that corridor and it's the third door on your left." She gestures with her hand, directing me towards my first class. I give a quick thank you and look down at the piece of paper she handed me. Great. Maths. My favourite (not).

I walk in cautiously, aware of the fact that a couple of heads are turned to stare at me, whispering to their friend next to them. I take a seat towards the back at wait for the teacher to arrive. I can already tell I'm going to hate this school. It looks like an American movie in here, with all the cliques. I spot the popular girls in the far left, flipping their hair and looking at the jocks who are seated on the other side of the room. Then at the front there are the nerds, and then there are other groups that I can't figure out. It really makes me laugh looking at them all. The UK was nothing like this.

Thinking of home makes me feel like there is something twisting my stomach, so I block out the thoughts and try and focus on what the teacher is saying who has just walked into the classroom.

"Okay everyone welcome back! We have a new pupil with us today, could you stand up please and tell us about yourself?" I roll my eyes, I bet I'm going to have to give the same introduction to every single class today. I reluctantly stand up, my chair squeaking on the floor as I do so.

"My names Jenny and I moved from England." I say boredly and sit back down again quickly.

"You don't give much away do you?" I hear a voice say beside me. I turn to find one of the 'jocks' smirking at me. He also happens to be one of the hottest guys I have ever seen. Stay cool Jenny, stay cool.

"I would never spill everything out before I get to know someone, then you would have nothing to talk about." I smirk back at him. Wow you didn't fuck it up! I give myself a mental pat on the back.

"Very true." He gives me a breath taking smile, "hey there's a party tonight you should come, maybe we could 'get to know each other' there, if you catch my drift."

"You have got to be kidding me." I roll my eyes sarcastically. "You're such an arse."

"What are you talking about babe?" He says, still smirking.

"Don't call me babe, and I'm not a whore." I glare back at him. "I know you must think you're God's gift to mankind, but reality check you're not. And your not my type. So kindly shut the fuck up, I'm trying to listen to the teacher."

"Babe. I'm everyone's type." He turns to face the front, his cocky smirk still plastered on his face as I shoot daggers at the back of his head.

"Hey you're the new girl right?" I hear the girl beside me in my English class say.

"Yeah, Jenny nice to meet you." I smile, she doesn't look like a clique cliché, maybe she's one of the normal ones around here.

"Molly." She introduces herself with a smile, tucking her long brown waves behind her ear. "So how are you liking Belmont High, and the city of course?"

"Ermm, it's different?" I say with a laugh, "things are just very different back home."

"It sure is a long way to move! Why don't you come and sit with us in the cafeteria today?" Her smile is welcoming, I accept the offer and a large chunk of my nerves disappear. Thank god I won't be that new kid who sits on their own at lunch.

By the time lunch comes around I am starving, I practically race to the cafeteria.

I spot Molly sitting at a table with two others, and I weave my way through the maze of tables to join them.

"Jenny! Hey!" Molly greets me, "Hannah, Lucy, this is Jenny; the new girl." She introduces me to her friends. They smile back at say their hellos and I sit down in the spare seat.

"Ugh did you see Kyle today, he is so drool worthy." Lucy says sighing as she flicks her long red hair behind her back.

"Ew Luce that's gross." Hannah replies, scrunching her nose.

"It's the truth!"

"Jenny this is Lucy, she is our stalker of the group." Molly giggles, teasing her friend.

"I am not a stalker! I can just appreciate hot guys." She laughs and looks dreamily over at the jock table.

"Hey babe." I scream and jump, nearly falling of my seat when a voice comes out of nowhere behind me.

"Smooth." He says, in fits of laughter, I turn and see the asshole who talked to me in Maths this morning. I roll my eyes dramatically and go back to eating my food. Out of the corner of my eye I see him sit himself down on the empty seat next to me.

"So, are you sure you won't take me up on my offer?" He flashes his signature smirk at me.

"Piss off you dickhead." Is all I have to say back to him.

"Ouch, that hurt!" He mocks, holding his heart.

"Oh please, nothing could dent your ego, your too up yourself." I retort back nochalontly.

"You'll come around." He gives me one last smirk, stands up and saunters off.

Is he literally unable to do anything but smirk?

"Prick." I mutter under my breath as I watch him walk over to his table.

"Oh my god did you just turn down Cody Blake!?" Lucy cries. I turn back around and notice all three of their jaws are practically touching the floor.

"He's a dick." I say in a matter-of-fact tone, as I shrug my shoulders.

"Maybe so but he is a god!" Hannah gapes at me.

"Look within the first thirty seconds of taking to the guy he pretty much asked to hook up with him." I scoff, "he's a dick." I repeat my statement.

"No way, that's gross." Molly agrees, sticking her tounge out. The other two nod, making faces.

"You would think that after the amount of girls that's he's been with, he'd know how to treat them." Hannah shakes her head.

"That's exactly why he treats them like that. He has it in is head that he can get whatever girl he wants. Which he almost can. It's disgusting." Lucy sighs.

"Well I'm going nowhere near the guy." I say in reply.
