Wednesday looks around the chapel, barely listening to the priest droning on about Carolyn Peters. Towards the front, she sees a portly young boy who looks to be roughly her age.
He glances over to her and gives her a nod of acknowledgment. She nods back at him. After the service, while the adults are all exchanging condolences, the boy approaches Wednesday.
"Hi, I'm Xavier. Xavier Thorpe. What's your name?" He asks. He extends his hand for a handshake, Wednesday has her usual deadpan expression. She looks down at his hand and reluctantly shakes it.
"Wednesday Addams" she replies. "Are you the decedent's grandson?"
"She was my Godmother" Xavier replies. He looks around awkwardly. "Wanna play hide and seek?" He asks. Wednesday looks at him confused.
"You've never played hide and seek?" He explains the rules to her. Wednesday is also bored, so she agrees to play. Xavier counts first while Wednesday finds somewhere to hide.
She ends up hiding in a storage cupboard. It only takes a couple of minutes for Xavier to find her. They play several rounds. On Xavier's next turn to hide, he can't think of any more hiding spots. He looks around and spots the casket on the conveyor belt.
While no one is looking, he opens the lid and climbs in next to her. Wednesday looks around, but can't find him. The operator presses the start button and the casket slowly moves towards the crematorium.
Xavier suddenly realises what's happening and starts to panic. He screams and frantically tries to open the casket. Wednesday hears muffled screaming and looks over at the casket.
"It couldn't be..." she thought. Could Carolyn Peters somehow still be alive? Trying to get out? She runs over and reaches up to press the stop button. By now, everyone has gathered around to see what's going on.
Wednesday thrusts open the casket and a panicked Xavier sits up, panting. "Oh my goodness, Xavier!" a woman cries, presumably his mother. She lifts him out of the casket and hugs him tightly.
His father walks over and isn't too pleased "just what were you doing in there young man?" He demands. Xavier looks down at his feet nervously "I....I was just...." he mumbles.
"It's my fault" Wednesday says "we were bored. So I suggested we play hide and seek" Vincent glares at Wednesday disapprovingly. She glares back at him and walks away.
Xavier goes over to Wednesday "thanks, I owe you one." he says "if it had been me, I would have figured it out on my own" Wednesday replies, but she gives him a slight smile before leaving with her grandmama.
