Giyu gripped the hilt of his Nichirin blade as he began to run up the mountain. The winter snow bit at his exposed skin, but he paid it no mind as he began to breathe.

'Total concentration breathing.'

"CRA! Follow quickly! Possibility of the demon being a Twelve Kizuki! Very high!" Cried his Kasugai crow as he flew above.

The fake water Hashira's speed began to steadily increase until only a blue blur could be seen. Snow flew on either side of the slayer, the demonic aura filling his lungs as he neared his destination. Heart heavy with anticipation and the fear of being too late yet again, Giyu Tomioka pushed himself to run faster.

As his heart continued to beat within his chest, he was unaware of a steady increase in a blue substance mixing within his blood and his body. Nor of another long dormant side of himself that a select few have been waiting for centuries to be released.

Meanwhile in the Kamado residence

A tall, muscular man, standing at 5'10" with an unnaturally pale complexion, stood before a human. His appearance was made more threatening by the shadows cast on his frame by the weakened light from the various holes scattered about the bloodstained home. Currently, his curly black hair is covered by a white fedora with a red ribbon. His sharp, plum-red, cat-like, almond-shaped eyes gazed down at the human with carefully concealed contempt. His sharp, blue nails twitched, stained with blood, eager to devour this human with that man's earrings!

Half sitting and half leaning against the wall, blood dripping down his mouth was a frail man with black hair tipped with red, calm red eyes, and a pale skin complexion.

He gazed calmly at the finely dressed demon, wearing an outfit consisting of an embroidered black tuxedo and a white tie over a black dress shirt and white dress pants with black loafers. To the untrained eye, this supposed man would've appeared to be in his 20s, but Tanjuro knew better.

"...You will create your own downfall." He breathed. " and we will die, but in many ways history will repeat itself."

Muzan did not care for what this dying human had to say. His only goal right now was to dispose of this family and that man's Legacy. The demon king had already taken care of the human woman when she tried to escape while he was busy dealing with the human in front of him. No doubt the human infant would die from the freezing cold weather out side once her corpse could no longer provide any warmth.

'That pesky slayer is no doubt still following me.' He mused an idea forming in his mind. 'Oh yes, I know exactly what I'm going to do with you, but first let's place our future guest under... A false sense of security.'

Turning his back on the dying human, he walked out of the room and towards a section of the house that was covered in shadows. Allowing for his demonic aura to remain, Muzan hid his presence within the household and waited.

It would not be long before he would destroy the remaining shreds of his existence from this world.

——

kie knew she was dying.

It wasn't something she wanted to think about during her final moments, but it was their looming over her like an unwanted guest.

Grimacing at the pain coursing through her body, Kie remembered.

——

Kie had her back against the wall, eyes wide, as she bore witness to what could only be described as a bloodbath. She clutched a hatchet in one hand, and in the other, she held her son.
