"welcome to addison apartments." a older man said. he spoke trough his mail slot, only his dark brown eyes making an appearance. i stopped, walking backwards to greet him back. "hi." i said, leaning down. his eyes now.. well, eye level. "you must be scarlett reed, wonderful to meet you!" the man spoke, excitement in his tone.  "how do you know my name?" i replied, a bit confused. "i know everything that happens within these walls, it'll do you good to remember that!" he replied, his eyes slightly shutting, suggesting he was smiling.

i nodded in response before speaking up again. "do you own the building sir?" i asked politely, not wanting it to possibly come off rude. "i do, and no need to call me sir! you can call me mr. addison." he replied calmly. i nodded again. "it was nice meeting you mr. addison, but i have to go help my mom out." i said, pointing in the direction of the apartments 'lobby' area. "see you around!" he said, gently closing the metal mail slot.

my mother had just gotten a huge new job opportunity, i don't blame her for taking it. now i do blame her for moving into an apartment that's in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. i was confused to say the least when she told me where we'd be moving. "i definitely won't be going to any concerts anymore." was the first thing i said after she broke the news to me. but after the realization hit in, i remembered something. "wait mom, that's the same city neil lives in!" i jumped up and down, excitement filling my body. "really?" my mom asked, smiling at my reaction. "yeah!" i stopped jumping to take a second to breath. "well at least you'll know someone when we get there." she smiled, patting me on the back.

i had been doing online school since freshman year, i felt more comfortable being at home. but of course, this time my mother forced me to enroll for 'normal school'. after finding out neil lived here, i knew exactly why she made me ditch online school. i smiled, knowing she did it on purpose.

i walked back out to our car, we had moved from nashville, tennessee straight to nockfell, pennsylvania. luckily for me, nockfell was near pittsburgh, which means i could still go to concerts.. once i got a car. i had one back home, but my mom refused to move it with us. she said once she started her new job we could buy another one, knowing her i'll be driving when i move out. although she allowed my older sister to take her car, maybe because she was graduated, but my mom would never really tell me.

my sister, mya would be out of the house soon enough. i'm not even sure why she moved with us. maybe just to get one last year of free living. she was 19, and had full plans to move out when she turned 20.. which was in 9 months, so she really had no reason to move with us. i could never tell if my mother liked mya better, but i guess that's how it is with first borns.

"scar can you carry that one up?" my mother pointed at a large black garbage bag, probably filled with stuffed animals. "do you have anymore of the garbage bags? i can carry another." i said, picking up the first one. she handed me another, with a smile on her face. "what's the room number again?" i asked, as she handed me the new house key. "203." she replied, her soft hand touching mine as the key was now left in my possession.

i walked back in trough the lobby. walking past mr. addison's room again. i clicked the 'up' button on the elevator. i put a headphone in as i waited for the elevator to come. pulling out my phone i shuffled played whatever playlist popped up first, not wanting to look like an idiot when the elevator opened. i put my phone back into my
back pocket, pulling my shirt back over my jeans. i looked up from the floor, wondering what was taking so long. "oh." i mumbled. the elevator was coming from the basement, no wonder it was going so slow.

the doors opened, revealing a pair of two boys. one was tall, maybe around 5'10. he had really long dark hair, and wore a shirt that had a "sf" on it. probably some random band shirt. he had tan skin, and wore skinny jeans with a sliver chain hanging off the side. the other boy was shorter than the brown haired one, but wasn't that short. he had bright blue hair, that laid down to his shoulders, yet again not as long as the other boys was. he wore red ripped skinny jeans, and a plain black long sleeve. but the most intriguing part of all was the mask on his face. it was made up of mostly a pearly white material, but one part was snapped off and replaced by a pinkish skin colored slab material, clearly showing the wear and tear of the mask.
