It was her time to choose.
Door number 1 held promises of paradise, sun, and beaches.
But Amaryllis knew better than that.
The best options always led to people getting hurt.
Not that she'd care, she didn't like people anyway.
Friendship only led to weakness.
And in a world where government ruled supreme,
Death.
The second, an endless ocean, no land for miles, only sea.
Certainly desolate.
No resources though.
At least the sun was pretty.
And the third.
A plain hillside, with plenty of trees in the distance.
She could build a cabin with some of them.
And there would be animals- water, anything she needed!
One step.
Two steps.
So close.
So close to the perfect world the-
She felt her foot thud onto the grassy hill.
And then.
Only then did she realize what she did.

She watched as a cloud began to form, just above the door.
The very door that she just stepped through.
Without thinking.
Without surveying every inch.
What if there was no food,

She had broken the one rule she was given.

Amaryllis dropped to her knees, and wailed.
