Cleopatra's POV

It's been a month since my life imploded in my face.

Normally, I'd be back on my feet by now, but the loss of my job has my mind all fucked up and has me thinking about how my life has gone and if I like the way it was going before.

And honestly, despite having had my job and my money, which I loved to the moon and back, my life is pretty much empty.

I loved working and I would always say that I'd take myself on trips around the world to eat foods from around the world. But I would always push it off because I had a new case or in case Blake would feel lonely, which is crazy cause she's the one who's married with three kids.

Point is, I always had a reason to keep working and stall myself from taking a break and relaxing. I'm a very lazy person which means that I'm always in a hurry to do what I'm supposed to do when I need to do it so I can have more free time to myself, but I always find myself having something else to do when I finish my previous task.

So now that I literally have nothing to do, what the fuck am I supposed to do with my life?

A knock on my room door jolts me out of my thoughts. "Come in. " I say and Hayden pops his head into the room.

I'm currently staying in my room in Blake's house. She had me move in after she found me in my self made raccoon nest in my house. I'd shut myself in and hadn't left my room except to, get food, feed Sphinx, or clean her litter and I hadn't been the best at keeping up my hygiene at that point.

I was glued to my phone watching tiktoks, films, reading cliterature and living off take out. I was a mess.

"Hey, I brought you breakfast. " Hayden said, entering the room fully, a breakfast tray in his hands.

Hayden has been a big help since I came here, he's been so attentive and has taken such good care of me. Sometimes, I think he's more worried about me than Blake, and that's saying something.

"Thanks ki- " I started to say and I saw his face scrunch up at the name. Right, he doesn't like that. "Thank you Hayden. "

He gave me a small smile in response so I guess I did good.

Taking the tray from him and placing it in front of me on the bed, I ask him, "Would you like to join me? "

I hate eating alone.

"Sure, why not. " He says before tying his long black hair up in a ponytail with the rubber band on his wrist, his arm muscles rippling slightly from the movement.

Okay, that was hot for some weird reason. It was giving off Tora vibes from Midnight Poppy Land.

What the fuck am I even thinking? I've been reading way too much smut.

I brush the thought off and focus on my breakfast. It was a simple breakfast, eggs, toast, bacon and sausage links with some orange juice and tea. I hate coffee.

We eat in silence for a while and my mind wonders back to the whole travelling idea. I'd love to leave the country and go to other places I've never been to before and try foods I've never eaten. But I don't want to go by myself and Blake has a family so I can't take her with me.

"Cleo? Are you good? " Hayden's voice brings me back to the present. "You stopped eating. " He says when I look at him questioningly.

"Oh. " Is all I can come up with before looking down at my peace of bacon paused halfway to my mouth. "Hey, do you have any plans yet on what you'll do now that you're back? "

"Other than helping mom at the restaurant, no. " He answers, giving me a puzzled look.

"Hmm. " I start munching on my bacon as I contemplate this new solution that's been dropped in my lap. "Would you like to go on a trip with me? "

He pauses mid bite of his toast and stares at me for a bit, no doubt checking if I'm serious. "What kind of trip? " He asks, his toast now forgotten.

"An escape from reality trip. We'll be gone for two weeks, three tops. " I tell him.

"Where are we going? " He asks.

"Japan, I've always wanted to go there. "

"Alright, sure. When are we leaving? " Hmm, I thought he'd put up a fight and tell me I'm running away from my problems. But I guess that's being left up to Blake.

"This weekend. I still need to sort out our travel details and accommodation. " I start to go back to my food when I remember something important. "Not a word about this to your mother until everything's already booked and it's too late for her to stop me. " I tell him with narrowed eyes aimed at him.

"Cleo, relax, I won't say a word to her. "

We continue eating, with me actually eating this time, just enjoying the comfortable silence.

Now that I have something to look forward to, it's like all my problems have melted away. For now at least.

I still spend the rest of the day in bed though, with Jordan and Jace coming during dinner to eat with me in my room. After which they cuddled with me and we watched anime till we fell asleep.
