ONE. ECLIPSE

Four Years Later

KATHERINE LET OUT A GROAN AS A KNOCK SOUNDED AT HER DOOR. She silently cursed whoever was banging at her door this early in the morning, throwing the pillow over her head. "Fuck off!" Katherine shouted, her voice muffled by the pillow.

"Get up, lazybones," Her friend, Luna, called out from outside her door. "Maria needs to talk to you before patrols, cabrona!"

"Maria can suck my dic—"

"Katherine, seriously, get up," Luna said once more, shaking her head. "I'm gonna kick your door down if you don't," she threatened lightheartedly.

"You do that and I'll castrate your fucking balls," Katherine grumbled as she begrudgingly pulled herself off of her bed, beginning to get ready for the day ahead of her. Katherine liked her small home she lived in. It was kind of like a studio apartment. It had posters of Taylor Swift that Tommy managed to snag (score!) and a bunch of photos with her and her friends.

Plus, there was the box that she never touched unless she were putting something away for good. She tried not to pay too much attention to it.

She still hadn't gathered the courage to return it all to its rightful owner anyway.

"You move slower than un maldito perezoso, hurry up!" Luna groaned just as Katherine opened the door, giving her friend a look of annoyance.

"Are you done?" The dirty-blonde-haired girl asked with a raised eyebrow as she pulled her bag straps over her shoulder.

Luna rolled her eyes. "¿Podrías moverte más lento?" she grumbled under her breath, beginning to walk off to the horse stables. "Heads up, you and your ex are the talk of the town this morning," she said.

"Great," Katherine mumbled with a small scoff.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me that Ellie kissed you. I had to find out from Jesse. Come on, Kat," Luna frowned, nudging Katherine.

"We were both drunk, it meant nothing," Katherine said with a half-hearted shrug. If she were being honest, Katherine did want it to mean something. But she knew that at the end of the day, Ellie didn't really care. Not anymore anyway.

Lina scoffed, not believing Katherine's words for a second. "Oh please, you've been pining over her for the last year and a half," she said. "You're really gonna tell me that meant nothing?"

"Not to her," Katherine sighed as she spotted Maria speaking to Ellie. Hm, speak of the devil and they shall appear.

"I still don't understand what happened between you two. You're telling me she just...lost feelings?" Luna asked with furrowed eyebrows as they approached the stables. "That makes no sense. You guys were together for almost four years."

"Drop it, Luna," Katherine said with a flat tone before plastering a smile on her face as Maria noticed her. "Hey Maria," she said, giving the woman a short hug before looking over at the girl beside her. "Ellie," she said with a small nod before looking away quickly.

"Katherine," Ellie said in response, her tone flat as she walked past Katherine to speak to Dina, who was leaning against the playlot.
