IT WAS SPRING WHEN YOU FIRST MET HIM. The verdant leaves of the trees were fresh from the dews of the wayward winds, and the puffs of the dandelions filled the air in an endless stupor.

While your sibling indulged herself in the attention supposedly meant for you in the throne room during the announcement of your godhood, sipping wine and conversing with the Alberich's current head, you decided to slip away from the commotion.

You've concluded that it is better to leave than pretend to fit in with a crowd that viewed you merely as a spectator rather than the protagonist.

Not too far from the borders of the palace, you settled on the grass by the lake. The clearness of the water reflected precisely the internal conflict you had been feeling. Would this be your life for all eternity?

And that was when he came.

"How long do you plan moping aimlessly?"

He came and you've never forgotten him since.

Other than his vulgarity, he truly had a face you couldn't simply brush off because this man's face was blessed beyond compare. He could stand in the middle of a crowd and you would swear that he would be noticeable even from a distance.

You rolled your eye at his remark before responding uninterestedly, "Why are you here?"

"No reason. May I sit with you?"

"I thought you believed me 'moping aimlessly'?"

He did not wait for another response as he sat beside you.

Like a breath of fresh air, he was vacated of the intolerable stardust required for you to breathe in Royal courts because he had made living easy.

You did not have to pretend to be anyone to him.

Many seasons have passed since then, and countless changes have transpired as well. But the breaking of your heart like shards of glass, with each piece being plunged onto the open flesh of your heart still held its strength— and remembering how you've chosen to turn him down despite reciprocating his feelings hurt all the same.

After all, why accept him when you knew in your heart that you could never fully have him as your own? He was bound to a promise with someone else, a nation to protect, and a contract to his superiors he cannot deny lest he wished himself death.

Which was why temporarily leaving Liyue a century ago had been the wisest choice you've made in a millennium. First love was difficult to forget, and an even more painful wound to heal.
