It was a cool evening when Remus Lupin left his best mate's and his wife's house. He would have never imagined that that day was the day everything went downhill.

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."

James and Lily Potter were forced into hiding, their child having already gotten the wrath of You-Know-Who. All because of a Prophecy. The Potter's and the Longbottom's both bore a son when July ends, leaving them both as suspects for being the subject of such Prophecy.

As Remus was preparing to leave, his best friend James Potter stood beside him with their one-year-old son, Harry.

"See you soon, Remus!" Lily waved goodbye to him, as her husband gave a pat on his back while their little son babbled excitedly.

The couple were respectively twenty-one years old with a year-old son and a baby on the way. James grew up to be an only child, so he was pretty excited to be a father of two kids, while Lily has an older sister, Petunia.

Lily was five months along, and it was decided that Remus would be the unborn child's godfather.

After their friend left, the couple made sure the wards weren't disturbed and that the house was safe before returning inside. They had just put Harry in his crib to sleep when the sound of an explosion resounded in the house.

The front door has been blasted off.

Lily and James looked at each other with panic, knowing their deepest fear has become true.

He has found them.

James stood up immediately, as his wife remained frozen. "Lily! Stay here!"

"Our wands are in the kitchen! James— You can't!"

"Lily, he's here. He's coming for Harry." James stated, determination on his face as his voice radiated with authority. He knows what he has to do. "For our son's sake, please stay here and protect him."

He hugged and kissed his wife, knowing it would be for the last time, before turning towards the stairs. He took a deep breath, preparing himself and gave her one last look, before decisively walking downstairs toward his doom.

A swirl of emotions filled Lily's heart, as she watched her husband disappeared from her view. It would be the last time she'll see him... She wished she could stop him, but they both knew someone has to stay behind to protect their son and unborn child. Shivering tremendously, she scolded herself harshly to stop shaking and panicking, and to protect her son. To stop being weak in such a difficult time.

Feeling her son stir beside her, she held her hand to her mouth while the other reached out to calm Harry down.

As if feeling that this would be the last time he'll see his dad, he started to wail even louder as Lily desperately try to shush him, all while crying.

Everything was a blur.

"Avada Kedavra" A thud was heard in the house.

JAMES!

Realization strikes her.

He was gone.

As if knowing his dad died, Harry starts to cried while making a fuss, but it was ignored as Lily's mind went blank.

She fell to the ground, as her beloved husband's name kept ringing in her ears in a sort of atrocious melody. Scrambling desperately towards her son, she could hear soft footsteps coming up the stairs, growing nearer and nearer until she was sure the man was just outside the room's door.

"Harry..." Tears couldn't stop flowing from her eyes, as she hiccuped. "I'm sorry... I wish you could have grown peacefully... I love you so much... But I can't- Don't forget that, Harry. We loved you..."

The door to the nursery opened, revealing a man with pale skin with eyes that were a blood-red, with green robes flowing behind him.

Lily knew her end was near.

The end of her future happy life with her husband and both her children, a wishful thinking.

Maybe if time were peaceful, then it may be true.

"Ah, at last... Lily Potter. It's so nice to finally see you."

"You!" Lily screamed, this single word dripping of venom and hatred.

"Someone has asked me to spare your life, and I shall comply to such a foolish wish. I will spare you in his stead. Move." The man lazily took out his wand, before pointing it at her chest, or more specifically, at the child hiding behind her.

"That. Would. Be. Over. My. Dead. Body!" She gritted, positioning herself in a stance to protect and hide Harry from the man's view.

"Don't make it difficult. I agreed to his request, so don't make it hard to me." The man coldly sneered, and Lily couldn't help but tremble at the authority his voice held. Her legs buckled for a second, but she yelled at herself to not loose composure.

"This is your last chance!"

"I said... OVER MY DEAD BODY!" She screamed, as the man only let out a chuckle.

"That was your last chance... And you ruined it." The man mockingly said.

"Avada Kedavra!"

Green light flashes, and when it disappeared, there was only a body laying lifelessly on the floor, as Harry began to cry as if he knew something was wrong with his mother and unborn sister.

The pale man felt a glee of satisfaction, as he can now finally destroy cause of his downfall, all obstacles having been cleared. He raised his wand, as the killing curse spurted towards Harry.

However, he did not die. The curse bounced off him from his forehead and fired back at the man. He was too stunned to comprehend the situation, and it was too late when his own curse hit him straight on his chest.

A pale man dressed in black apppparated to the Potter house. It was quiet, as he step over the doorstep and saw the dead body of James Potter. There was no reaction, as he ignored it and went deeper into the house.

He could hear faint cries coming from upstairs — one of an infant's, he could tell — and widened his eyes. He quickly rushed upstairs but froze, seeing his beloved woman on the ground lifeless, her eyes once full of life now filled with nothing but blankness.

The next moment passed in a blur, as the man fell to his knees, crying and holding the woman he always loved.

Sadness.

Betrayal.

Anger.

Sadness of loving her.

Betrayal of his Master breaking his promise.

Anger that the man Lily loved and chooses — over him — hasn't protected her.

Still in a state of shock, he stood up with his eyes emotionless but just as he was about to leave, he noticed the bump of her stomach.

She was pregnant.

He didn't know why, but his mind was incredibly clear at the time as he cut her stomach open and pulled the unborn baby out, before healing the cut and leaving.

That, was his final moment with his only love.

He could feel the weight of his cloak, as he walked outside.

The baby was named Lily Emerald Potter
