Goenka Mansion, Pune..
An elegant lady in her late fortis, was reading business newspaper while sipping her morning green tea, sitting in her beautiful garden.
" Good morning begum sahiba, what is the breaking news of today?" Her husband came to her and asked while sitting for breakfast.
" Good morning Dev, you have to go to Mumbai today, right?" Arundhati asked him.
" Yes, will leave just after breakfast as elections are approaching faster, only 6 months left. We have to make final strategies for campaigning because this is going to be very tough, and I can't take any chance" Dev replied.
" Don't worry Dev, you will only win, I have full confidence. You have full support in party and public also loves you. There are no chances that anyone can defeat you, so just relax ok?" his wife gave him assurance.
" I know but in politics, we should not trust even our blood relations, that much dangerous it is, anyone can backstab anytime. So, I can't take any risk " Dev replied.
Arundhati looked at him then looked at the headline which she was reading. She forwarded that newspaper to Dev.
" What is this?" Dev asked her.
" Trump card to secure your win" She replied.
" Means?" he asked.
" Dev, read the whole article first" his wife told him.
"Famous NRI businessman Harshvardhan Diwan, is planning to settle down in India, soon after retirement. His son will handle his business and will open his company's first head office in Pune." Dev read the whole article then looked at his wife with confused expressions.
" Arundhati, how come this is related with my win in elections?" Dev asked her being completely clueless.
" Dev, I guess, you didn't recognize who is he? Remember, when we used to live in Ratnagiri, they were our neighbors there. After that they shifted to Canada, and we came to Pune" Arundhati replied.
" Ok, got it but how will it be helpful for us as we are not friends anymore, then how will he support me or help me?" Dev asked with genuine doubt.
" Well, they will not help us, but we will help them" she said and winked at him.
" Arundhati what are you trying to say, I am not getting it, please say it in clear words" Dev asked her again.
" You leave that on me, and just focus on your campaigning. I will handle rest" She assured her husband.
" Ok fine, do as you wish. Btw where is she? still sleeping?" Dev asked about their daughter.
" Maybe but yeah, she is in home only" his wife replied.
" Sometimes I feel guilty, as in quest of making my own political career, I pushed our daughter too far away from us and I feel very bad as a father. I also think, we should not had sent her to boarding school against her wish. Maybe, then she would not have become like this, and we would not have lost our only child like this" Dev said to his wife with sadness filled voice.
" Dev, we did everything for her betterment only. She went to India's best boarding school and then best college also but she herself ruined her life there by indulging in wrong company instead of studying sincerely and making her career. If we would not had sent her to boarding, then who would have taken care of her? as both of us were busy in our careers. In that case, we would have felt even more guilty by leaving her alone in home with some maid. At least there she lived among so many kids and later on, she herself ruined her life, we had no role in it. Now only since last year, she has started behaving normally. You forgot all her doings, what she did? Let her spend some time like this. She needs to be disciplined first and don't worry about her. I am here for her, you should focus on your career. Once you will become chief minister, then we can sigh in relief and after that we will think about her and talk to her, for now let her be" Arundhati tried her best to convince her husband.
