The Closet

Kayla had been woken up by her alarm. She slammed her hand on the alarm and got up tiredly. It was a Friday and she had a long and tiring week. She was going to write her finals very soon and she's been very stressed with all the studying. She then got an idea. She could have a sleepover with all her friends so they can enjoy their last weeks. The only problem was if her parents would allow it. She went down the stairs but stopped half way when she heard her parents talking to her brother Dean. "Please, mom, can I have  a sleepover with Gabriel and Alex at Gabriel's house? We haven't had a sleepover in a really long time." Dean asked hoping for a good answer. Dean was 2 years older than her. He was 19 and she was 18. They had a great relationship but Dean was really protective of her and sometimes it really annoyed her. "Sure, me and your father were thinking of visiting your grandma." Mom answered. As Kayla heard this good news she finally went down the stairs and asked. "Does that mean I can have a sleepover here tonight?" Her parents thought about it. Dad sighed "Ok, just don't break anything or get arrested ok?" Kayla giggled "Of course dad, don't worry." "Now, go get ready or you will miss the bus" Mom said laughing at her reaction. Kayla went back to her senses. She completely forgot about school. She quickly grabbed a pear a sprinted up the stairs. She brushed her teeth, got dressed, grabbed her bag and caught the bus just in time.

-At school-
Kayla got to school about 5 minutes before her first boring lesson. As she walked in she walked over to a group of 5 girls and 4 boys. Their names were Mira, Diana, Sophie, Addy, Clare, Jake, Marcus, Evan and Theo. She sat next to them on a beanbag and said. "Hey, do y'all wanna have a sleepover at my house tonight? My house will be empty and my parents already allowed it. So do y'all say?" "Oh, I'm so in, I need something to get my mind of of this horrible week." Clare said. "It's going to be our last sleepover before finals and graduation so I'm going." Addy said excitedly. Everyone agreed so it was final. They were going to have a sleepover tonight. At that moment the bell rang and everyone got up to get to their classes. Kayla couldn't even pay much attention in class. It was the last thing on her mind at that moment. She was really happy, not just because she can spent some time with her friends but also because her long time friend and crush Evan was also going. It was going to be the first sleepover she was going to have with him. After class she went up to Mira. Mira was the only friend she had in her class and also her best friend since middle school. She met most of her friends in high school except Mira, Marcus and Evan. "Hey Mi, you're awfully quiet today. Is everything okay?" Kayla asked concerned. "Oh, of course I'm just really excited about the sleepover I really needed something to get my mind of of studying so this sleepover is perfect. I've been really stressed about finals lately so I'm glad I can spend some free time with my friends. Plus I can finally spend some time with Jake. I had to cancel my date with him because of studying so I need to make it up to him in some way." Mira said. "I'm glad that this sleepover can be a help. By the way I heard Jake telling Theo that he had bought a little something for you." Kayla said while smiling and then she winked at Mira. Mira looked at her annoyed "What did I tell you about spoiling my surprises Kay!" "Sorry, sorry" Kayla giggled. Not so long after that school ended and Mira and Kayla caught up with the group. "Hey, at what time can y'all come to my house?" Kayla asked the group. "How about we come at 5 p.m.? That's in 3 hours so you have time to prepare." Sophie said. Sophie was new at the school this year. She is a transfer student from Canada and Kayla and her clicked almost instantly. After that she introduced her to the group and they were good friends ever since. Everyone agreed on Sophie idea and they continued talking while walking out of the school. When they walked out Kayla saw someone familiar in the distance. It was Dean standing in front of his grey Toyota. She had no idea while he was there so she ran towards him. "Hey Dean, what are you doing here?" "I'm here to pick you up from school obviously" Dean said smiling at Kayla. "Aww, Dean, you really didn't ha-" Kayla got interrupted by Dean in middle of her sentence. "I'm here becauseI want to so let's go, get in." Dean said while opening his door and getting in. Kayla rolled her eyes. She hates when Dean interrupts her. She turned around and waved a goodbye to her friends, then she opened the car door and got in. "So, who did you invite to your sleepover?" Dean asked starting the conversation. "Mira, Diana, Sophie, Clare, Addy, Jake, Marcus, Theo and Evan. Why?" Kayla asked. "No reason, and what about Lia? Did you talk to her after, you know?" Dean asked. Kayla got said at hearing that name. Lia. "No, I didn't. She betrayed my trust and slept with my boyfriend Zein. I'm not sure I will ever forgive her." Kayla said looking down. Zein was Kaylas ex-boyfriend. They dated for a year and a half and she was really happy with him. Everyone warned her about him that he's a cheater, a liar, and will break her heart but she never listened to them. She thought he was the perfect boyfriend and loved him deeply. But one day when he was late to their date, Kayla decided to go to his house to check if he's ok. She called him a thousand times but he didn't answer so she was worried. When she came to his house she found the front door open and got extremely worried so she rushed to his bedroom and found him sleeping with Lia. Lia was a friend that she had since kindergarten. They were very close and were the bestest of friends. But after what she did Kayla cut her off. "I'm sorry to bring her up." Dean said when he looked at Kayla. "It's ok, I don't want to be friends with her anyways. She started hanging out with Rachel, Jane and Grace. You know, the bullies. They bully younger kids and always get away with it just because their rich parents bribe the principal to let them stay." Kayla said. "Yeah I know them. It's so unfair, but I guess you'll just need to get through it. It's just a few weeks anyway." Dean said trying to light up the mood. "Thanks Dean" Kayla smiled

-At home-
When Kayla and Dean entered the house Kayla threw her bag next to the front door and ran to get the vacuum cleaner. "I will just get something and I will go. And I will also lock my room so you don't have to clean it." Dean shouted to the distance. "Ok, bye Dean!" Kayla shouted back. After cleaning for like two hours she got a phone call. She picked it up and heard Marcus. Marcus was her oldest friend. Her and his moms knew each other. And they hung out often ever since. "Hey Kay, I need to ask you something." Marcus said nervously. "Hey Marcus, what's up?" Kayla asked. "My mom said I can only go if I take my sister too. Is it ok if she tags along?" Marcus said worried that Kayla will say no. Kayla thought about it. Marcuses sister was Rachel. The girl she hated. Even though Rachel is completely horrible to everyone Marcus was the complete opposite. He was kind, honest and a complete sweetheart. She wanted him to come to the sleepover and have a great time. "Ok, you can take her too. But if she makes fun of anyone she's sleeping on the sidewalk." Kayla finally said . "Really? Thank you. But there is one more thing. She wants to take Lia." Marcus said sadly. Kayla got silent and thought about it. Even though she hated Lia for what she did she wanted Marcus to enjoy his time before graduation. "Ok, she can come too" Kayla said. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, you are an angel Kay." Marcus said happily. "Ok, ok, go get ready now, bye!" Kayla hung up and at that moment she heard the door bell ring. She opened the door and Mira and Sophie were there. She let them in and they waited on the rest.
