Annabeth

I enjoyed this summer more than most. Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood were my new friends.

We would do stupid things together. Prank nearby neighbors, dare each other to challenge the ocean, sneak out to meet.

Well, Percy and I snuck out. Grover was a total mama's boy.

We snuck out all the time.

"Cookie?" Percy asked. We were sitting in a large tree overlooking the sea. I narrowed my eyes at the cookie and raised an eyebrow.

"Why is it blue?" I asked, even though I knew the answer. Blue was Percy's favorite color.

"My mom makes the best blue cookies," Percy bragged proudly. I laughed and took the cookie from his hand.

"So where do you go to school?" I asked. "We'll be separated for the whole school year."

Percy thought. "It's a shame we can't see each other then."

I nodded. "It was fun."

"Yeah."

"We're leaving in a week," I explained. An odd look crossed Percy's face.

"You're going back to your house?"

I nodded. "Yeah. New York is pretty far from Virginia. It'll take hours to get back."

"When can I see you again?"

"Well, will you be here next year?"

"You'll be here?" He asked.

I nodded. "Promise."

On my last day, Percy came to say goodbye. I was just finishing putting my things away.

"I can't wait to see you and Grover next year," I said, hugging Percy. He blushed, moving away quickly. I realized my mistake.

"Sorry," I said, looking at the ground.

Percy laughed. "It's cool, Wise Girl."

"See you, Seaweed Brain."

I turned to leave, not wanting my parents to wait for me.

"Wait, Annabeth," Percy said, grabbing my hand.

"Yeah?"

Percy looked me right in eyes. He was a centimeter shorter than me. His eyes scanned my lips, and he kissed me.

"See you next summer," Percy whispered.

I didn't see Percy Jackson again for two whole years.
