Not stupid, just dense

Dream was looking down at a map while standing in a forest, Punz was nearby leaning against a tree while fidgeting with a flower, he held the stem tightly as he spun it around while staring down at the grass, Punz was oddly quiet today, he would've teased Dream for getting them both lost at this point, but he hasn't. Dream noticed this and noticed how tense Punz seemed.

"what's wrong with you?" Dream spoke without looking up from the map he was holding, Punz didn't respond. Dream was silent for a few minutes before he spoke again. "Punz." No response still, the map in dreams hand then turned pure white as it then vanished and entered his inventory. He then walked up to Punz and placed his hand on Punz chin, lifting his head up so Punz was looking at him. Only then did Punz seem to snap back to reality. 

"What?" Punz voice was quiet, his icy blue eyes stared up at Dreams mask that held a smile, Dream couldn't help but shiver, it went unnoticed by Punz thankfully. There was always something about how Punz stared at him, it felt like Punz could see right through the mask Dream wore, the physical and metaphorical mask he wore. 

"what's wrong?" Dreams voice was monotone, deep and cold. It didn't sound like he was asking a question, it sounded like he was demanding for a response from Punz. Punz just stared up at him before mumbling "I've been... Thinking" Dream scoffed and let go of Punz, then stepping back "Really? You, thinking? Thats new hm?" Dream spoke with a tease in his voice, a hint of playfulness in his voice as he spoke.

Punz rolled his eyes and sighed, Dream hummed softly before responding "What have you been thinking so hard about?" Punz hesitated and mumbled, "There is this guy..." The second Dream heard the few words that left Punz his body tensed up "...and I have been thinking about him a lot... I found out I am in fact in love with him..." Dream nodded his head. 

"And why is that causing discomfort?" Dream spoke smoothly "well- I have been dropping these painfully obvious hints that I like him, and he still doesn't realize" Dream raised an eyebrow underneath his mask and he leaned against the tree next to Punz "well, he sounds very stupid." 

Punz shook his head and smiled "But he isn't... He is... Very smart... He isn't stupid, just... Dense... and oblivious... He... Also doesn't understand human emotions that well since he is... Not exactly human" Dream tilted his head, his interest was piqued about the man Punz loved "oh? What is he?"

Punz hesitated before he responded "He is a hybrid... But... Also, a supernatural being? I don't know, hard to explain" he shrugged "but... He... Has goat ears... A long tail and some horns.." Dream nodded his head in response as Punz continued to talk "and... He has powers, like... Actual powers. I don't know man." Dream smiled underneath his mask, but Punz could hear the smile in Dreams voice "How interesting, he has the same attributes as I" Punz looked at Dream for a moment, staring at him as if Dream said something completely ridiculous. 

"What?"

"Nothing"

Dream shrugged it off and spoke "Maybe you should just flat out say that you like him, hm?"

"that's... Maybe it would work" Punz nodded his head and smiled. Then looked at Dream and leaned closer "I love you" Dream stared at him and ruffled Punz hair and chuckled "see, just like that!" Punz stared at him with a dead pan stare, and he spoke "oh my fucking prime."

Dream shrugged "If they don't understand that then they might just be too stupid" Punz stared at him in disbelief, and he then leaned closer and he cupped Dreams face with his hands and he "Dream. I. Love. You." Dream stared at him with confusion for a few moments before his eyes widened with realization. 

"...wait- you- you like ME?" Punz nodded his head in response as he watched Dream process, he moved away and took his hands away from Dream. Dreams own hands went up to his face and he groaned "Oh my god I'm so fucking stupid! I mean- I always thought you did but I never actually expected to be right!"

Punz snorted before he started laughing "You're such an idiot, honestly."
