I woke up in Henry's room, not knowing how I got there. I looked down, seeing that my shirt was taken off and that I was in bandages. It was hard to remember what happened, but I think I was fighting some guy who was talking shit about Erica. Yeah I remember it... He told me that she was easy. He didn't even have to try. My guess it that it got too heated. The one thing I didn't get was, why was I in Henry's room? I have my own. I sat up, looking around the room. It was nice, the walls a nice shade of pale yellow, accented by white desks and gold appliances. The door opened and Erica walked in, holding a plastic water bottle and a robe. It had only been a three months since Lilith left.
My face hurt slightly as I opened my mouth to speak, to greet Erica, but I silenced myself as soon as I noticed that she had glared at me. Oh no she was mad. I knew that as soon as she walked up to me and threw the robe at my face. "Well good morning to you too, Eri." I groaned, wrapping the robe over my shoulders. Her glares shot into my soul.
"Seriously! Another fight!? Every time you fight someone, the time you sleep afterwords grows! It's been 5 days Harley! Henry gave you his room after he realized you weren't sleeping at all..." Erica yelled at me, handing me the water bottle as I attempted to listen as best I could. I was shocked at how long I had been asleep... 5 days.
I drank some of the water. "Well, Henry can have his room back, I spoke, getting out of the bed, knowing I was wearing pants, so I just tied the robe properly. Erica glared at me for a moment. She looked so angry... but then she just, looked down. "This is all because you miss Lily, isn't it?" She asked, almost silently. I looked down at her, my eyes narrowing slightly.
"Lilith, knows I miss her. We write to each other. But I wouldn't go out of my way to get hurt to get her attention. Even if she was here." I explained, noting that everything I said I knew was true. Lucy came every few days with a letter from Lilith, and I loved replying to.
Erica stood up, facing me. "Don't you get it Harley? It's been half a year since we found you. You are my twin brother and as your sister, I can't bare to even see you hurt." Her voice sounded more disappointed than angry now. I sat back down in front of her, smiling softly before putting a hand on her head. "You are never going to lose me. We both know I'm too stubborn for that."
That's when I heard something drop beside me. I looked at it, seeing Lucifer beside a letter, in a white envelope. I then looked at Lucifer, who has been being treated with crackers whenever he arrives at Liliths. I scoffed slightly, opening the letter and reading it.
Dear Harley Kirin
Hello my dearest Harley! I got your letter on your birthday, and tried to draft this up so many times.
Happy birthday to you and Erica.
I wish I could be there with you.
The poem you attached in the last letter you sent was amazing,
I could barely believe you wrote it.
Though I do have a question,
Who did you write this poem about?
You wrote of missing and loving...
Heartbreak.
I'm curious!
Please let me know
Love, Lilith Yazgume.
Ps: I am not feeding Lucy... he totally just finds my spare crackers.
As I read the letter, I pointed out to myself the bold-faced lie that she hadn't fed him. I giggled slightly, before getting whacked in the head by a book. "Hey! That hurt!" I yelled, looking up from the letter and looking at Erica. Henry entered the room as I glared at my twin. Henry looked tired, his hair messy and grown out. I looked at him once I had noticed his tail swaying beside Erica. Henry's sighs became more pathetic each time he facepalmed at my stupidity.
"Harley, I need to ask you something." Henry rubbed his temples, before looking at my eyes. I smiled softly as if to tell him to go on. "Will you please continue with the exchange student program until you graduate? I've gotten like ten letters from Lilith asking me to let you go." He continued. I looked at him, getting off the bed and walking up to him, my expression cold. I then hugged my older brother. I was worried about him. He needed to plan a coronation, court someone, and have an heir... and to add on to things, with me leaving he would need to take the responsibilities I took of being the commanding officer to the battalions and taking care of requisite paperwork. I didn't want him to get hurt because I wanted to leave.
"Henry, if I leave... then you know that the battalion will have to be led by you in my absence?" I asked, looking at my brothers crimson eyes. It took a moment but he nodded and hugged me back before letting go. He then flicked my forehead. "By the time you graduate, I'll have everything ready for you. Now. I have your stuff packed already. Even your guitar." He smiled. I couldn't help but laugh slightly. I wanted to go and see Lilith...
The portals blue essence glimmered. I hadn't been there in a few months. The small specks of what appeared to be purple glitter landed on my small leather suit case. I didn't have much that wasn't already there, so I picked up my guitar and bag. Erica stood beside me with a smile. "Stay safe asshat." She smiled softly. I looked over to her. She looked so worried.
"You know I will, Eri. I'll write to you if you write back." I teased, a smile growing on my face as I ruffled her hair slightly. That's when she pushed me through the portal, throwing my stuff in behind me.
I fell onto the hard wooden ground of my home, that I still owned. What I saw angered me beyond words. Leaf was on my couch, eating some ramen. He stopped when he saw me. "The hell are you doing in my house!?" I yelled, getting off of the floor. Leaf stood up, looking me up and down. I was only wearing a button up shirt and a pair of black pants. My stare was full of rage and he knew that. But as if he was poking a sleeping bear, he asked me something. "What are you doing in this realm?"
"My job. Now pack your shit and get out of my house." I spoke, running my fingers through my hair. I furrowed my eyebrows, glaring at leaf as he picked up an unopened suitcase from MY room and heading to the front door. He then stopped and turned to look at me. "Have fun with Lilith. She is not in a good mood." He spoke before opening the door, revealing the thunder storm outside. I looked at him then back outside before grabbing a pair of rimless black sunglasses and putting them on. I put down my stuff before running outside, not paying attention to leaf who went back inside my house. I ran to the house to the left of mine, knocking on the painted white door.
The door swung open, every single noise that I've heard just quieting down when I saw who answered. Lilith, her stormy cloud colored hair tied up into a messy bun, the tops of her shoulders on her pink t-shirt were soaked and clinging to her soft skin. Her prismatic eyes were red and slightly puffy, her wings closed around herself. Even as the rain poured down onto me, soaking me and my clothes in the process, all I could think about was her. How she was even beautiful when she had been crying for hours. Why was she crying?
Her eyes widened when she realized it was me, her Storm grey hair immediately started to fade to a lighter colour, rainbows peeking out from behind specific strands. The rain slowed down too. I smiled softly, before looking her up and down. "Hey, Lily." I spoke softly. I wasn't expecting what she did next: she pulled me down to her level by my collar before hugging me tightly. It felt like she wanted to suck out all the air from my lungs in the process.
"You are an Asshole..." Lilith sighed out, letting go of me. I looked at her before smiling and wiping off some stray rain off of her face. "Missed you too, Lils."
