AUGUST 9, 2035

ISLAND OF ALTIS,

MEDITERRANEAN SEA

AAF and their CSAT backers were being pushed back constantly from all fronts. The 111th Infantry Division and their FIA counterparts have now set their sights on Pyrgos, the capital. With Altis' airports, airfields, and waters now in the hands of NATO, they had complete air and amphibious superiority. The only problem was ground superiority, which is all but difficult to achieve when you are facing an enemy that is too stubborn to give up.

It has been a month ever since the Stratis Incident and the events that followed along. The AAF's unexpected and unprovoked surprise attack on Task Force Aegis on the small island almost wiped out the confused and deteriorated NATO Peacekeepers. Leaving only a handful of survivors being forced to fight for their survival against overwhelming odds by conducting guerilla warfare.

Fast Forward to a few weeks, NATO forces have successfully taken both the Islands of Malden and Stratis in response to the AAF's surprise attack. After a few delays and some issues, the entire NATO invading force were finally clear to begin the assault.

The first steps of the invasion went through as planned, NATO forces successfully took the AAC airfield and town of Neochori. However, were already met with a counterattack from CSAT forces. Anti-Air defenses were wiped and units stationed around Neochori's defensive line took a heavy beating. With the defensive lines breached and Anti-Air assets destroyed, CSAT units were free to funnel through at any time. However, NATO units rush and race to the defensive lines to plug the gap, and eventually succeed.

Fast forward once more, the events following the capture of the main airport, the miraculous success of Operation Steel Pegasus on the second front as well as the CSAT-AAF forces being squeezed from all sides eventually led up to the preparation for the assault on Pyrgos.

Men wanted to go home, men wanted this to end. Both sides wanted the same thing. However, CSAT and AAF forces refused to surrender. Many were already tired. But they went on, to finally get this over with.

NATO Artillery began to pummel the capital after destroying several outposts and defensive positions within the city. Until the bombardment was temporarily halted at the request of NATO's allies as many civilians were still trapped within the city.

However, the ground offensive would continue. NATO forces prepared to attack the city from all directions to greatly overwhelm the defenders. Stocking up on supplies and ammunition, NATO forces were beyond ready to begin the assault.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In a NATO outpost northeast of Pyrgos, a Corporal Baker is doing checks on a Rhino MGS within a motor pool.

He and his crewmates have been through many missions leading up to the assault on Pyrgos. Reconnaissance, armored breakthroughs, etc. But this was the final push for them to finally rest. Baker was tired like the others. Always anxious and always at the edge of his seat, never knowing when and where an anti-tank projectile would come hurling toward and hit the vehicle.

The Rhino MGS was one of the designs that traded armor for firepower. So they always had to either hide from the direct sight of enemy armor or fire first.

It was only a matter of time before the opposition finally surrender and end this war. Baker missed both his sister's and his mother's birthdays while fighting. But whatever they had to do, they would do it and get it over with.
