"Why's it always me?" I asked as I was pushed aside to help Lydia, yeah, I was relieved to not have my head smashed by a shovel but hell, it's always me.
Her eyes were trained like glue upon the commotion happening behind me as I tried to get the ropes and duct tape off. She was whimpering the whole time. I kept eyeing her but she wouldn't look at me, she reeked of panic and in all honesty it was making me scared too. "I'm sorry!" I called out as I tried to tear the duct tape really slowly so it wouldn't hurt. Lydia groaned in pain and where I had loosened the rope her arms shot up and get hand helped me to tear off the tape. I winced for her as her lips were raw but suddenly they parted before I could ask if she was okay.
A blood-curdling scream followed with more power than the previous one. I finally noticed my surroundings and Derek had the man against the wall, Scott was beside him asking questions but the man would not speak. He just proudly said "No comment" like the people my dad often interviewed for a verdict of guilty or not. The scream caught all three, and probably Brett and Liam, off guard. Derek fell to the ground clutching his head and Scott whimpered and backed away trying to get away from the ear-piercing shriek. If it hurt their head ten times as much as it did mine then being a werewolf sucked. The male, although hindered, ran toward me. I raised my arms feebly in attempt to defend myself but he wasn't looking to hurt me, he just grabbed Lydia.
The man took her and I could do nothing but let out a low groan. What the hell just happened? Looking around I saw the two slowly recovering and there was a faint commotion in the hallway. I heard Brett shout to Liam and it didn't sound good. My head thumped and the world span as I clambered to my feet and the situation was processed. "Lydia..." I gasped out, running over to Derek and helping him up before I levelled Scott and looked him in the eyes. "He took Lydia."
Scott tensed under my finger tips and cursed out abnormally, "Shit," before he headed for the door. "I'm going to get her back, she's part of my pack, she's my friend." he explained briefly, I ran up to him and held his shoulder.
"Scott, I'll come with, I'm part of your pack and she's my best friend," but he shook his head at me. I frowned, "Scott I have to come—"
"No, Stiles. You have your own problems to sort out. Talk to your dad. Derek, take him home." Scott's voice was dead serious and I felt Derek's big paws pull me away from my best friend. I felt weird letting go, scared even.
"B-be careful." I wished and with that he left, calling over Brett and Liam, and the trio left into the night.
I felt helpless as Derek guided me to my truck, chewing my lip until it bled. I didn't have a problem with my dad for not telling me, nor did I mind having a sister, sure it was weird but my whole life was weird. "Der, I want to help."
"I know, Stiles, but you're helping by staying out of the way. You might think that Scott needs your help, and that you have to save the day, but think Stiles: you're human." Derek said slowly, opening the door and helping me in. I felt a little shaky so I was thankful he chose to drive. I suddenly realised the craziness of the past events and it had my heart skipping a beat. What the hell was that? It didn't matter though, I was just human. A sigh escaped my lips, noticed by the wolf beside me. "You okay? Do you want me to come in with you?"
"No, no. My dad is wary of you already, I don't need you escorting me when I was just 'studying at the school'," I smiled, a fake smile but he bought it.
Saturday | Evening
Aspen was in front of me and I pulled a face as everything on her plate was green, my dad approved of her healthy choices but I wasn't hungry and instead just forked around with my share. It was hard to eat when your body was consumed with anxiety. We were dealing with trained hunters, well, Carter's dad at least, and Lydia's scream didn't effect him one bit. Lydia, Lydia was gone and I couldn't do anything about it. I wasn't allowed to. My dad certainly wouldn't let Aspen or I out of his sight if he knew about Lydia being captured.
