Recap: now, about the school issue. What did you want to tell us?

B: Well, I kind of am failing the majority of my classes, so the principal wants a meeting with all of us.

Am: And why might you be failing your classes?

B: I'm not really understanding some of the material so I'm not doing too well on tests and quizzes. I'm doing alright on the homework though.

That last part was a lie. Not only was I not doing well on the homework, but I was not doing it at all for most of the classes. I just didn't want to tell Mom and Dad that.

A: Thank you for being honest with us. When did the principal want to meet?

B: I got the email yesterday asking to meet tonight. He gave me a video link, so we can hop on anytime. We just have to tell him first.

So, my parents exchanged a look and decided that now would be a good time. Then I went to go grab my computer and pull up the link. Within 5 minutes, I was regretting ever having opened my mouth.

P: So, as you probably know, Brianna is failing almost all of her classes. What she probably didn't tell you is why this is the case.

A: She told us it's because she doesn't understand the material, so she gets low test grades.

P: While that might be true, there is one other major factor. There have only been 2-3 classes out of 7 that she has turned in any work for. The other 4-5 teachers have not seen a single assignment from her the entire year.

Both parents looked at me as I sunk down in my seat.

Am: Well, is there any way she can make up any of the assignments?

P: Actually, yes. The semester ends in 2 weeks, so she has 1 week to get all missing work in for half credit at most.

Am: How far away is she from needing to attend summer school?

P: At the moment, she is in the danger zone but if she gets those assignments in, she will be at a C for those classes.

A: Thank you for bringing all of this to our attention. We will make sure that Brianna gets all of her assignments in.

they finished the conversation and ended the call. Then both of them stared at me. They both had disapproving looks on their faces.

A: Brianna Marie. You just keep digging yourself deeper. I am very disappointed in you.

B: I know. I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you everything, but I was scared of how mad you would be.

A: We would have been a lot less mad if you had just told us everything in the first place. You know our rule about lying.

B: I do, and I am seriously very sorry. I won't do it again.

A: Alright. Apology accepted. But you are still going to need to be punished. So, tomorrow morning, you are going to get a spanking and then you are going to get all of your assignments done and turned in. Do you understand, Brianna?
