Running up that hill! (Optimus Prime Fanfic)

Chapter 5

3rd POV

Alex changed her name to Softspark. Ratchet suggested it and She liked it. She was sitting down near the kids. She was able to walk but Ratchet made her a cane like thing to help her. "Optimus, why so glum? This planet-- All planets -- are free from Megatron's tyranny." Ratchet said. 

"I do not disagree, Ratchet. It's just. . . A small part of me hoped to change Megatron's mind. Not extinguish his spark." Optimus said upset he killed someone he considered a brother. "Optimus, his vileness was not slain by your hand, but by his own twisted arrogance." Ratchet snapped. 

"Hmm." Optimus spoke. "I'm sorry. I know the two of you had quite a history since Softspark's mother was your daughter." Ratchet said. "But the Megatron I once knew perished eons ago. The day he chose to become a decepticon." He said. He then turned to Ratchet. "The Decepticons may be in disarray, but they aren't without a leader. And while Starscream is no Megatron, he is far from predictable." 

BANG!

A loud explosion rocked the base. "Decepticons! We're under attack!" Ratchet yelled. Softspark laughed at Ratchet and Optimus. "It's not an attack, Ratchet." She laughed. He glared at her. "I'm sorry. Your face." She laughed. 

"It's Raf's Volcano. Me and Bee were helping." Softspark turned. "Or was." She said. "Hold still, Bulkhead. Jupiter needs it's red spot." Miko said. She dipped the paint brush inside the paint bucket and a drop hit the floor. "Whoopsie!" Miko groaned. 

"What. . . In the Allspark is going on in here?" Ratchet asked. "Our projects are due tomorrow." Jack said. "Maybe it needs one of these doohickeys." Arcee suggested. "Arcee, you're a motorcycle. Shouldn't you know how to build a motorcycle engine?" Jack asked. 

"And you're a human, Jack. Can you build me a small intestine?" Arcee asked. "Well, you can't work on these projects in here. You're. . . making a mess." Ratchet argued. 

"But the science fair's a big part of our grade." Raf said. "Yeah, if Bulkhead doesn't help me finish this model of our solar system-"

"And what does Bulkhead know of your solar system. . ." Bulkhead went to speak when Ratchet continued. "Or Bumblebee of your Volcanos, or - -"

"Arcee of our motorcycles?" Softspark asked. "Precisely! We're not earthlings. And they're not scientist." Ratchet finished. "But the Autobots are their guardians, Ratchet. Would it hurt to learn more of Earth by helping our young friends with their schoolwork?" Optimus suggested. 

"Well, maybe our young friends should try learning about Cybertron." Softspark sniggered. 

Softspark was thinking of the two decepticon twins that would visit her and her mother when she was younger. She remembered their names. Dreadwing and Skyquake. 

She looked at the site. "I know that site!" She said suddenly. Optimus turned. "That's where Skyquake is. Optimus, I need to come!" She said. "No, Absolutely not. You are not prepared for battle-"

"He would never lay a digit on me!" Softspark said. "Optimus. I can get him to come on your side." Optimus looked at her. "You stay beside me at all times." He told her. She nodded. 

::Does this mean that Starscream is the new leader and everyone follows his command?:: Bumblebee asked Optimus. "No, it does not. Stay behind and await our command." Optimus spoke. 

Softspark followed him. 

Softspark saw Skyquake growl at Starscream. "It's been a while, Skyquake." She spoke. Skyquake looked. "Alex?" She nodded. He shoved Starscream away from him. "You look just like your carrier did." Softspark smiled. 

She walked up to him and hugged him. He smiled and hugged her back. She smiled and he got a good look at her. "You look a lot like her." He whispered. Softspark smiled. He then noticed Optimus behind. Optimus talked to Starscream telling him that if he wanted to be a true leader he should stray from Megatron's path. 

"I would be willing to consider a truce. . . If you, Optimus Prime, would bow before me." Starscream said. "Again?! Bow to this!" Skyquake slapped Starscream. Softspark laughed and she was trying to hide it. "I'm sorry." She said. 

"Skyquake, For my sake can you just please, join the Autobots? Please." Softspark begged. Skyquake looked at her. "I'm only doing it to protect you." He told her. She smiled.
