When Dylan woke up the following morning, there were several things that felt different about when he usually woke up. Firstly, the room was pretty clean- normally it got really messy if the guys decided to watch a film or hang out in there. Secondly, it was 6:45am (a time that Dylan still considered to be midnight and therefore not a time people should wake up unless an alarm went off), and lastly, Thomas was nowhere to be seen. In fact, it looked like he hadn't been there at all last night; his bed was still made from yesterday morning, and Dylan was certain that he'd not gotten into his bed either. Nevertheless, he checked the bathroom first, just to make sure, even though he knew there was no-one in there. Trying to ignore the feeling of settling unease in his stomach, Dylan opened the closet and pulled out a pair of cargo pants and a white shirt, dressing quickly before reaching over for his phone; turning it on, he found he had 2 voicemails, 4 texts, and a bunch of missed calls. He opened them in the order that he got them, most recent to least recent.

Text (from Holland): Dylan, what's going on? Tyler just texted me to say there's been an accident or something? xx(Sent at 4:50am)

Text (from Posey): Just seen the news, are you okay? Are they okay? Call me if you need me. (Sent at 4:26am)

Text (from Wes): Were you or Will there for the accident last night? Answer us, Dylan, we need to know. (Sent at 1:03am)

Text (from Mom): Are you alright, honey? Wes just phoned me to say some of the cast were involved in an accident? I know Kaya, Ki Hong and Thomas were there and that they all got taken to hospital late last night. Text me when you get this. x (Sent at 12:32am)

Voicemail (from Kaya): Dyl, pick up your phone. We tried to reach you and Will last night but neither of you answered. You need to get down here like as soon as possible. There's been... there was a crash and Thomas and Ki were hurt pretty bad. Please, please get down here. (Received at 11:47pm)

Voicemail (from unknown number): This is the Los Angeles Community Hospital. We have this number down as one of Thomas Brodie-Sangster's emergency contacts, and we have your name down as Dylan O'Brien. Call us back when you get the chance. If this is a wrong number, please contact us so we can remove this number from the list. (Received at 11:09pm)

It took a second for everything to sink in. There had been an accident and three of his closest friends were involved. From the sounds of things, Kaya was alright, or at least the most alright out of all three of them. She had said Thomas and Ki Hong were 'hurt pretty bad', but he didn't know how bad 'pretty bad' was. Were they concious? Were they on life support? Did they have a broken bone? The possibilities were endless, and that's what scared Dylan the most. Before he could think about it anymore, however, Will burst into his room, panting heavily and pointing to his phone frantically.

"Car crash... the guys..." Seemingly incapable of forming actual sentences, Will bent over in the doorway, grasping the handle tightly as he tried to catch his breath.

"I know." Dylan was surprised to see how calm his voice was, despite the fact that his legs had decided they could no longer carry him and he'd lowered himself onto his bed shakily at some point before Will arrived.

"We need to... need to go down there." The Brit's words were only processing through his brain at half speed. Therefore, he reacted slower than he normally would, managing to stand up and grab his jacket from the back of a chair, making sure his phone was safely in his back pocket, after a pause. For a second, he just stood there. The only thing that brought him back to reality was a click of Will's fingers in front of his face.
