Sullivan placed the giant bouquet of bright red roses, sunset orange dahlias, pink tulips, and deep purple orchids near the beautiful marble gravestone, smiling sadly. "Flowers look so beautiful on you, dear." He said, "Red seems to definitely suit you. How gorgeous you were simply cannot be put into words..." He smiled.

"I love to say we gave it a try, love." his smile fell.
"..Maybe it was just the universe that decided I was of no fit to be yours...
I could have denied it as much as I so deeply wanted..
But in the end, my feelings revealed themselves.
I still wonder why you gave up, Zwei...
Could you not see me trying..?
I was so terrible to you because I still felt bitter..
...You were like sweetener that warmed my heart every time I looked at you.
Perhaps I did not want you to be happy, because I did not know how to make you happy..
Just hearing your name roll off of another's tongue breaks my heart...
I suppose I was too half-witted to realize I should have bought you flowers.."

"Held your hand..."
Remembering Zwei's last request tore his mask of acceptance right off
of his face, tears falling from his eyes.

"..I knew all you wanted to do was dance.. I should have said 'yes' when I had the chance..."
"I hope friends you make in heaven dance with you for all eternity..."
"So frail and delicate, and all I did was break you."
"I hope you know, I do regret that I cannot clean the mess I've made..
Every time my eyes close, I see your signature sunny smile.
So full of real happiness...
I'll push aside my ego and pride for you this time, Zwei..
I will admit, I was a horrible husband... Everything I have done was wrong in every way possible."
Sullivan wiped his face, clutching his button-up shirt as several tears had fallen onto the soft dirt above Zwei's casket.
"Sorry is not enough to fix the bruises, scars, marks, and pain I have caused you.."
"Two years ago we almost could've fallen in love.."

"Almost..."
"..So close to being in love with one another..."
Sullivan sighed.
"Almost could never be enough."

There was only one problem that caused this relationship to fail.

The boy loved the man too early.

Yet, the man loved the boy too late.

End.
