Six Months Later
My eyes flew open when I felt a small hand shaking my shoulder - Claire and Bronwyn were standing over me. I barely even realized they were there at first because I was tired, more and more of my stupid pOwErS were popping up which was very tiring. I accidentally shot a small ball of fire at the ceiling when I realized there were people there, but quickly snuffed it out with the water from the glass I had next to me.
"What is so important that you felt you had to wake me at..." I looked at the clock on the wall. "...four in the morning?" I sat up, stretched and stood up, grabbing my clothes off the dresser. I was up now, there was no way I was getting back to sleep. I put the clothes on my bed and sat back down. "Plus, you shouldn't even be awake yet." They didn't seem at all worried about being tired, they looked excited about whatever they wanted to tell me. Alma walked into the room, sighed, and leaned against the doorframe, crossing her arms over her chest as she watched the children talking to me.
"Miss Peregrine and her ymbryne friends were invited to a big fancy ball! And we're allowed to go to it!" Claire whisper-yelled in my ear. "We get to dress up all fancy in big dresses and fancy clothes." I smiled up at her, only now knowing what she was getting at coming to talk to me so early in the morning.
"Yes, I can make your dresses, and I can add a special touch to it," I said, spinning them around by their shoulders so I could change. When I was done I stood up and grabbed my materials from my material box."Which colors would you like?" I asked, thinking I may as well just get it done. Claire picked pink and white, while Bronwyn picked blue and white. I decided that I could incorporate some of the soft lace I had sitting at the bottom of the box into each of the dresses and got to work right away. They both sat there as I worked, watching as I carefully sewed the fabric together. I didn't know when they had to be done by, so I tried to work quickly - it was easy, I'd been doing this my whole life. Which meant it only took thirty minutes to get the base of each dress.
Claire's dress was big and poofy, the bottom of it reaching the floor and spreading almost a foot away from her. It had princess poof sleeves which were encased in lace and a layer of lace over the skirt. I used the leftover lace to add designs to the top of the dress and used the white fabric to add layers to the skirt so it would be poofier - just as Claire wanted it. I hadn't even fully finished the first dress when Claire and Bronwyn had run off with Alma somewhere.
I folded the pink dress into a flat white box and started on the next one. It was Bronwyn's blue one. It only reached her knees and was slightly less poofy than Claire's, but it was still similar. Layers, puff sleeves, lace coverings... It was almost the same but just a different color. I boxed it and put he box on top of Claire's and moved on to Emma's. It was a sparkly, pale blue ball gown, the top being a bodice that I made a while ago. Olives was a column shape with off shoulder straps. It was blood red and the neckline was shaped in a v. It was long and I added a slit up the leg.
The last dress for the children was Fiona's, which was a light yellow ball gown with flowers patterned over the skirt. I made it sparkly with off shoulder straps and folded all of the dresses into their own boxes. Second lastly was Alma's dress. It was a dark blue mermaid dress - the same color that she wore every day. There was a small train behind it and the straps went off the shoulders. I also made a scarf kind of thing so she could cover her chest if she wanted to - which she definitely would.
I boxed the dress and moved on to the last one, my dress. It was a dark blue ball gown with ruffled off the shoulder sleeves and a bunch of layers. I added delicate, intricate designs to it, wanting to put time into something for myself for once. And I was very proud of it. It was very poofy, and looked like something only a princess could pull off - that made me a little worried. As soon as I finished with the last detail, Alma came in with Claire and Bronwyn so they could get their dresses.
