High School Casualties (Boyxboy)

Chapter 18

Levi was standing around waiting for a message from Papa. It had been a few hours since the last one and he was getting a little nervous. The officers where the only ones to misread his nervous energy.

"Sir, would you please sit down? Mr. Jaeger will be fine."

Levi waved them off with a little flick of his wrist and then left him alone. Levi repeatedly checked his phone to see if he was getting a call from Eren. He knew that he wouldn't but it gave him something to do. He felt weird about the entire situation. Papa wasn't getting back with him and Levi felt a strange emptiness in the pit of his stomach. He looked at his phone again. Not even a minute has passed. He sighed.

"I'm gonna order us some food. What do you guys want?" Levi asked.

"How about a pizza?" Hanji said.

"Alright."

Levi called a pizza place who delivered and order two large pizzas. One had pepperoni and mushrooms while the other one was just plain cheese. He gave them their address and the man on the phone was hesitant to deliver it there. Levi put an officer on the phone and the two talked it out. In the end the pizza guy said he would deliver the pizzas. Levi got his phone back and put it in his pocket. He paced around the benches and thought about Eren.

"Levi?" Petra asked.

"What?"

"Everything will be alright. They'll find Eren. They just need a little time. You shouldn't worry this much," she told him quietly.

"Yeah Shorty! You look constipated when you worry," Hanji butted in.

Levi looked at the ground.

"I know I shouldn't worry this much but I feel like something is off and I don't like it. I want to see him. I want him to be okay. I just want him," Levi said quietly.

The doors to the station opened and man carrying three pizza boxes walked in.

"Umm, is there a Levi Ackerman here?" he called out.

Levi walked over.

"That's me. I only ordered two pizzas though."

"Actually, one of them is for me," the officer at the desk said.

Levi rolled his eyes and paid for all of them. He brought the pizza back and set them down. Armin walked over and opened the top one. He jumped back and stared at the contents in horror. Everyone crowded around and looked down. Sitting on top of the pizza was a familiar looking eye. Levi leaned down and looked at the oceanic irises.

"It's Eren's eye..." he said in horror.

His stomach turned and he felt like his world crashed down around him. His back pocket buzzed and Levi dashed to the bathroom. He pulled his phone out and answered it without even looking at the caller ID.

"Where is he?" Levi demanded.

"Levi, we have some bad news," Papa started. "Isabel and Farlan didn't make it. They went in to help Eren before his face was totally mutilated but they were too late and then killed. We now know where he is. I'm sorry we couldn't have gotten there sooner."

Levi was silent. His best friends were dead and his lover was missing his eye.

"Where are you guys? I'm coming."
