"Oh, my love... Did you all think a stupid rehab was going to help me?" I ask my husband, as I lean in closer to him.
"What do you mean, Amy?"
"Did you believe that Scarlet died out of nowhere?" I ask pouting. I put my elbows on the table, raising a bit so I can be closer to him. "My love... You all believed that Jacob fainted and fell from the balcony." I smile, putting my hand on his cheek, seeing Alec's expression becomes more guarded as I go on, mentioning each of our deceased friends "Let's not forget about Matthew. Oh... Poor soul. Died from a stupid allergy he had. I wonder how the peanuts got in his cupcake. And Zira. She's so clumsy. How can she fall on the stairs like that?"
"You... You didn't..." he starts to say, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Oh... My love. When will you understand? I love you deeply. I loved all of our friends. They were so special to me. Well, not as much as you. After all... You are the last to live. Right?" I smile when the shock appeared on his face.
Alec's eyes widen with shock and I feel a little shiver run through his body, but he quickly composes himself.
"Love. You didn't. Stop it." he says firmly, his tone more forceful.
"I didn't? Are you sure?" I reply, a hint of playfulness in my voice
"You wouldn't kill them if you loved them. That's nonsense." he argues.
"Oh... Then tell me. Did I, or didn't I poison your drink?" I ask, a sly smile on my lips.
"You didn't. You want me to be with you as much as I do." he replies, his voice more confident now.
"You are right. But just about the love part." I say, my smile widening.
"You poisoned my drink? But..." Alec trails off, looking at his wine glass and then back at me.
"But you forgot a thing. You all forgot a simple little thing. I want to die." I say, my voice lowering to a whisper. "Do you really think that I was suicidal and suddenly that stupid rehab made me want to live? My love... I fooled you. I fooled everyone."
"But why? Why did you kill our friends? Why... Why did you put poison in my drink if you want to die? You are going to be all alone. You are not going to have me or anyone by your side, Amy. How..." Alec stops, looking at me with a mix of confusion andfear. "How much time do I have left?"
"20 minutes." I reply calmly hearing him sights, grabbing my hand in his.
"Amy. Just answer the rest of my questions, please. Take it as my last wish." he says, his voice pleading.
"I didn't want you to be alone. Without me." I explain, feeling a slight cough coming on. "What if you found someone else if I died? No. Impossible. I wouldn't let that happen. Our friends? We only had each other. You? I wanted you to be with me."
"But you had me. You didn't have to do all of this, babe. Now you are going to be alone." Alec says, his tone softening.
"Who says?" I ask smiling.
"What do you mean?"
"My love, I poisoned my drink too. Remember? We will go together. We are going to be together. With our friends. Forever."
"Why didn't you want to accept my help? Our help?"
"I can't be helped." I start to cough, smiling when he also starts to cough but he was calm, too calm.
"Amy. The clock is ticking for the both of us."
"I know. We will finally have peace."
"You know... I knew you were really bad mentally. I tried anything to help." he stops, grabbing my other hand in his. "I love you. But I'm not letting you kill us."
"And what are you going to do? I already poisoned our drink. Soon enough we will be gone."
"I knew about your plan, Amy. I knew all along."
"That's impossible." I say laughing but when I see his serious face I knew he was telling the truth.
"I love you, Amity."
My heart skips a beat at his words. "You knew?"
