It was a knock on the door that awoke me the following morning.
"Yes?" I sat up, scrubbing my eyes.
"Young sir," Jeeves called from the other side, "hurry, it is quite late."
"Late for what?" I called back.
"Hogwarts Express," Dumbledore's voice surprised me.
"Dumbledore?" I jumped out of bed, my hand jumping to my wand.
Part of it all still felt like a convenient dream. But the wand was there, in my hand. I could feel its current rushing through me. Not only that, but I could still hear Dumbledore's voice as he made conversation with Jeeves from the other side of the door. As I walked towards it and past the fireplace, I saw smudges of ashe on the carpet and wall from our coming and going from it.
So it is real. I pinched myself, opening the door, hoping that I wouldn't wake up the moment I did.
There he stood, Dumbledore, tall and in his grey robes, his staff at his side, chatting with Jeeves as if nothing was out of the ordinary.
"Hello there, Y/N," Dumbledore smiled, "did you get a good night's sleep?"
"I...Jeeves...Dumbledore...how..."
"Professor Dumbledore here has paid us a visit this morning, young sir, he explained everything to us. Your parents were quite thrilled about it all."
"They were?"
"Oh, yes, of course," Jeeves said, a sense of pride rising up in him as well, "I am quite ecstatic myself, young sir. It's great news. Isn't this exactly what you wanted?"
"What, a magic world?" I asked.
"Not quite as shallow as that," Jeeves added, reaching over and grabbing me by my shoulders in an endearing manner, "but a world of opportunities. Opportunities beyond normal comprehension. It's a blessing, this is, young sir, a blessing which everyone in this household hoped to have come across for your mother's sake."
"The dust," I remembered, ready to turn back into the room and get it.
"There's no need," Dumbledore said, "I had brought over a bigger supply this morning. Flaskius has been quite generous, I'll have you know."
"D-did mother already take it?"
"Oh, no, not quite. She wanted to see you off before any of that. She's quite excited for this all, she most of all, young sir," Jeeves smiled, "come, as I understand, there isn't much time left before your train departs."
As Jeeves started to lead the way down the hall and towards mother's room, Dumbledore nodded towards me and smiled as he followed along. I looked at him every now and then on the way there, trying to make sure that he wasn't going to disappear anywhere, trying to make sure that this all remained real.
"Here we are, young sir, your father, mother and your dear sister are all inside, waiting for you."
Jeeves opened the door, waving me in. To my surprise, Dumbledore followed through then Jeeves himself came after, closing the door behind him.
"Oh, Y/N," my father rushed towards me, falling on his knees and pulling me close in an embrace. He kissed me on the cheek. I could feel his hands shaking, his entire body trembling with a nervousness that I could sincerely comprehend. "How are you, son?"
