In a short episode series there is a young boy named Tommy. Tommy lost his brother, Wilbur, when he was 16. Tommy could not get over the fact that his brother had passed away for a long time. Tommy and Wilbur were very close since childhood, but when Wilbur was in charge of running a nation they started to grow distant. Even though he was very busy, Wilbur would always spend time with Tommy and they'd go on outings and have fun like they used to when they were younger. After only a few short years of the nation's announcement it was under attack by the neighboring country. Tommy spent his time during this by getting the people out of the nation's boundary walls. While evacuating the people Tommy also looked for his brother Wilbur, but he was nowhere to be found.
Wilbur on the other hand, was in a bunker under the center building in the nation. In the bunker was a button that would detonate a boat-load of C4-explosives that were all connected under the grounds of the nation for such an emergency. When he thought the time was right Wilbur slammed the button and stood there as the outskirts of the country began to blow up. Tommy and all the citizens were safely out of the walls and moving away from the area, as to not get caught. Wilbur was the only person of the nation still within the walls, and because of this he was able to defeat the enemy, but it cost him his life as well. Wilbur sacrificed himself to save everyone.
After hearing the news of his brother's passing, Tommy could not believe what he was hearing. Tommy desperately tried to convince the person who told him that they were wrong, but the person just bowed their head. Tommy broke down in a fit of hysteria and was overwhelmed by emotions from the news. He couldn't think that his brother was dead. He blamed himself for not being able to find Wilbur in all the chaos, he blamed himself for not being able to predict the enemy coming. Tommy blamed himself for his brother's death. He could not believe that Wilbur had died without warning, or that Wilbur was really gone.
Tommy took all the anger out on himself. He wouldn't take care of himself as a way to "punish" himself for not being able to rescue his brother when he needed saving. He would starve himself and he wouldn't pick up on the general hygienic care his body needed. Tommy wanted to get his brother back any way he could, but his brother wouldn't come back ever again. After figuring out that this wouldn't work to get Wilbur back, Tommy started praying. He prayed for his brother back. Prayed for forgiveness for whatever he has done bad in life. He offered his life in place of his brother's. Tommy was desperate, trying to pray for anything just for his brother to be alive again. Tommy believed Wilbur did not deserve death, but he himself did for not being there for him.
Realizing that his prayers weren't going to be answered Tommy fell into a depression. At this point, it wasn't by choice that Tommy's health was failing, or that he couldn't take care of himself. He felt that nothing mattered anymore since he lost his brother, and he felt he shouldn't continue on. Tommy would stay locked up in his room everyday and only ever leave it to use the bathroom. This started to worry his father, Phil. Phil started asking around his friends what he should do about this. One suggested to get Tommy a therapist, it would help Tommy to open up about his feelings and what he was going through. Phil started looking for one almost immediately. Tommy was still staying in his room the whole time, not even sleeping because of night terrors he'd have.
When Phil was able to convince Tommy to go see this therapist Tommy was clearly exhausted and wanted nothing to do with the appointment. The first session wasn't anything special. The therapist introduced herself as a woman named Puffy. She explained that he could take as long as he needed to open up. Tommy introduced himself back to her then stayed quiet for the rest of the session. Puffy acknowledged that he wasn't going to speak the rest of the session so she went on to tell him more about herself so he would be comfortable with her for their next session. This worked, because the next session he went to he started talking to her about what he liked and the basic information of why he was coming to these sessions. It took a while but when Tommy finally opened up about his feelings of his brother's passing he started to learn that it's okay to feel loss and blame yourself for some things that happen in life. Puffy taught him that these things happen to everyone and that it is alright to grieve over them, after all it's a natural reaction to a loss in the family.
