It was a stormy dark night in autumn when I was brought to hogwarts.
The rain blew straight into my face when i steped out the car and I could barly make out the great entrace door to the castle.I grabbed my big bag from the carseat and wrapped it on my shoulder.
The driver nod at me once and then drove of into the dark night.Quickly i pulled the hood of my sweater over my head and walked to the door.
No light was to see in the inner of the building. Understandably i mean what it might...be 1 or 2 am.
Just as i wanted to knock, the huge wooden Door swang open with a cracky sound and i steped into the great entracehall.
A high, unnatural throat clearing echoed through the huge walls and I had to squint to see the figure in front of me.
I looked into the bloated face of a small plump woman.
Great.
Vice Principal Dolores Umbridge.
She pulled out her little wand, waved it once, and a bluish light illuminated its tip.
Her small, bulging eyes sparkle in treacherous shock at the sight of my face. But she soon regained control of her face, which always reminded me of a rotten fig. Ew I hate figs.
"Oh Miss Black..."
Her voice sounded like blowing hard into a recorder while holding your ears. I managed to twist my mouth into a small smile and give a short nod of approval.
"I didn't expect you to arrive at such a late hour...even with that weather...unfortunately your godfather isn't in the house at the moment he is-"
"Yes, he wrote me that."
Umbridge wrinkled his nose in disgust. Apparently she didn't like being interrupted. She straightened up and gave me a skeptical look from head to toe. I felt sick just looking at her bright pink suit. She was maybe just as tall as me but probably twice as wide.
I held her gaze and quirked an eyebrow questioningly.
A short swallow. Then she blinked at me sweetly and gave me a fake smile.
"Follow me."
I did.
She led me through the huge building of the School of Magic. The school where my father grew up. Sirius.
My heart pounded hard at the thought of him and my index finger slid over the ring on my thumb.
Umbridge suddenly stopped.
Out of nowhere a tall slink Woman with a huge Witchhead appeard arround the corner and stopped roght infront of us.
A small smile build on my face.Professor Minerva McGonagall.
"Miss Black I think you already know Professor McGonagall. She will lead you to you dorm which will take place in the attic over the libary...for now."
I let out an amused snort and nodded in understanding. I knew exactly what she was up to. This "for now" didn't refer to the time I hadn't been housed....it referred to forever. She wanted to lock me away. Like a creature you didn't want...
But I was already used to that from where I came from. That was the lot you got when you were born a so-called freak.
I nodded in mock thanks.
"I totally understand. A good night's sleep...ma'm."
She wrinkled her nose.
"Thank you very much..."
Her eyes a lot on McGonagall.
"Minerva." There was a judgmental undertone in her fake voice.
"Dolorés..."
Umbridge turned on heel and stalked away.
We just stood there and waited for her steps to slow away.
Then I looked up.
Minerva smiled briefly and wrapped me in a hug.
"Oh my love how long has it been...the last time we met you were a little girl."
I shook my head sadly.
"I don't know like 5 to 6 years."
She nodded in understanding. Her eyes look me up and down.
"Look at you. You've grown up...but your eyes are still the same as the one of your mothers."
A warm smile build on my face. She brought me to the libary. The rain lashed against the huge arched windows.
It smelled of parchment and papyrus. We walked across the mirror-smooth marble floor, on which every step echoed up the walls.
Then McGonagall turned into section B17. At the end of the compartment was a locked lattice door. She took out the key, put it in the lock and with a squeaky sound the door swung open. We entered a new hidden compartment. McGonagall ran ahead and stopped after a few steps.
In the dark corridor between the high bookshelves a narrow spiral staircase was outlined, leading up to another room.
I looked up the stairs and then at her.
She handed me the key and I took it.
"Up the stairs, the door from the right."
"Right next to the broom closet, I get it."
"At least you have a room all to yourself."
"Yes... at least I don't have bars on the windows anymore."
Her eyes fell guiltily to the floor.
"I'm sorry Dear, if I would have been in charge-"
"No it's...I'm fine. We all have our baggage you know. Mine is...whatever."
She did not say anything. After clearing her throat, she found her voice again.
She told me things like that the rest of the students would come tomorrow and that something like an inauguration for the new school year would take place towards the evening. I would then be placed in one of the four houses.
"You should rest a little after your long journey."
I just gave her a slow nod in response.
"Good night Miss Black."
"Good night Professor."
Then she left. I stayed a moment longer at the bottom of the stairs.
Oh dad were have you brought me here? The cast-iron steps wobbled slightly under my footsteps.
The stairs ended and I was suddenly standing in front of two heavy wooden doors.
The right door she had said.
I put the rusty key in the lock and the door opened.A high tower room opened before me. a spacious freshly made bed stood in the middle against the wall opposite me and took space into the room. A large window above. My gaze continued to wander around the room. A table and chair on the left side of the room, next to a fireplace in which a small fire was already burning. A clothes stand and a shelf on the other. A chair covered with a sheet stood in the upper right corner by the bed, and scattered throughout the room were candles dripping petrified wax. My eyes went to the left. Moonlight fell trough a skylight. There, against the wall of the door, was a small mirror and beneath it a copper sink. Next to it in the corner was a bathtub.
Water line but no electricity. Well thought out.I stepped into the dorm and dropped my oliv-coloured bag to the ground.
McGonagall was right it was actually not that bad...
Compared to the border scholl a lived in before this was luxury.
But still i felt like a Prisoner. Locked up in a Tower.
Wait isnt that a fairytail?
I smiled. Rapunzel.
My favorite story when i was little.
I grabbed into my pocket and took my lighter out. Quickly i light a few Candels which dived the room into a warm golden light.Slowly i sat on the bed and pushed the hood off my head. The fabric was wet. I took the jacket of and freed me from my baggy pants. Now only a oversized balck shirt covered me. A singh left my mouth and i fell back on the bed and stared up at the celling.
Now o i realised how exhausted I was. My entire body felt so heavy and tierd.
I took a deep breath, shutting my eyes and just listened to the wind blewing outside and the quiet cracking of the fire.
My fingers ran over the soft fabric of the blanket i layed on. I relaxed and the pain silented more and more.
And then...
I fell asleep.
