Yima @(jamshid=Noah and manu in matsya avatar story) was Ahura Mazda's supervisor of humanity. When the population became too great after 900 years, Ahura Mazda warned Yima that destruction was coming in the form of winter (the evil spirit), ice, and subsequent melting of the snow, resulting in a flood.
⚫ He instructed Yima to build a vara, a large square enclosure on the highest mountain top, in which to keep two of the best kind of animals, human beings, plants and foodstuffs. Within the enclosure, men passed the happiest of lives, with each of 40 years seeming like a day.
