Strings Pulled; Huaze Lei

chapter 2: guts

Handing Li Zhen a pair of expensive earrings i bought from the mall, I noticed the cake Shancai was holding out.

"Awe Shancai that's so cute" i say as she hands the cake to Li Zhen

"Thank you. I don't have money to buy a nice gift. This is nothing big. It's low in fat so you won't gain weight."

"There's a card too. Thanks Shancai and thank you Meilin! These earrings are beautiful, they must've been so expensive !" I simply shrug with a smile trying to play it off "How about we all take a photo with the cake sand earrings?" Li Zhen suggests

"There's a lot of people here. Let's go...over there." Shancai points to a stairwell as we follow her. We all take a picture together then try taking some of Li Zhen by herself.

"Be careful! Don't trip!" I warn, noticing her slip for a second. She smiled and continued to pose when she suddenly moved, falling and the cake and earrings went flying. "

uh oh

Shancai reaches Li Zhen to steady her as I watch the cake land smack on Daoming Si's face, getting all over him and his porcupine hair. My eyes widened in shock as i try not to laugh at his hilarious expression.

"You again." I look behind him , seeing his friends standing in shock. I lock eyes with the handsomest one, Lei and smirk at him trying to contain my laughter.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that."

"If apologies worked, why would we need the police?" ass much?

"Si, let me help you clean up. " she puts her hands on his face in attempt to get the cake off, when he harshly shoved her to the ground, snapping me out of my trance. i quickly shove him into the rail, pushing my arm against his throat, rage burns in my eyes as i glare at him

"If you ever touch her again, i'll shove you off a damn roof." venom laced my words as i threatened him. His eyes flash for a moment, surprised but impressed. I hesitatingly let go of him to go stand by the girls. Shancai backs me up telling him,

"Yeah. She didn't mean to do it. She apologized to you, didn't she? Why do you have to be so mean? You're an arrogant, green shoe-wearing, pineapple head. You think you're popular at school so you can do whatever you want. You didn't apologize for breaking my phone. You're just a jerk." well she's not wrong. He slowly turns his gaze to her and grabs both of us by our necks, pulling us towards him.

"You. You've got guts." he says to me, then turns to Shancai, " Both of you." then walks away, his friends slowly following after him. Looking down, I once again lock eyes with Huaze Lei as he bends down, picking up the card and earrings. He hands the card back to Shancai before making his way to me slowly handing me the earrings. His finger graze mine and i feel my heart rate increase as he slowly pulls away, following his friends. Holy shit. Get your shit together Mei, he doesn't even know who you are. I quickly collect myself and head to my first class of the day: The Art of Music. 

Walking into the room i realize everyone turning their heads to stare at me. I walk to an open seat slowly but before I can reach my seat, two boys fight over who will pull my chair out for me. Lord. I reach to pull my chair out when a hand beats me to it. Looking up i'm met again with the eyes of Huaze Lei. I give him a smile in thanks before sitting down in my seat, turning my attention to the front of the class, waiting for the lesson to begin. The chair beside me moves as I realize Lei is now sitting beside me. This is going to be a longg class.

He's staring at me.  He's been staring at me the whole class. I can't pay attention and concentrate on the lesson as I feel my cheeks heating up under the pressure of his gaze. The professor dismissed us for the day so we gather our things and I quickly walk around Lei, leaving the class before i do anything embarrassing.
