About 2 months later Alice was at Peters since Nat, Fury and I were planning a dinner for us to just hang out and for Alice to get to know us better "What's her favorite food?" Nat asked "Hot wings" I replied "Alright" she said writing it down on a paper "What day should it happen?" Fury asked "Friday, Alice usually doesn't fall asleep until 10 those days" I answered then Nat wrote that down
That Friday morning when Alice woke up she was actually pretty happy "Do you think we could go to the store and get some new clothes?" she asked "Sure, but why?" I looked at her "Because, Nat and Fury have already seen every outfit I have, I want something new, something that says I don't just reuse every good outfit for every special event" she got some juice "You know what, you have a point, but we can't be there all day, dinner is at 9"
After Alice and I got done at the wall we went to go eat lunch at Red Lobster "You seem happy today" I took a drink of my drink "Well I am, I've been looking forward to this all week" she smiled "Oh really?" I asked "Yea, I mean you even said yourself that after we got done eating we might be playing cards" she smiled "You like playing cards?" I asked her "Of course" she smiled
Once we got home Alice put the outfit in her room and ran back out into the living room "Your birthday is coming up" I looked at her "I know" she sat down and laid her head on my knee "What do you want?' I asked while starting to play with her hair "A pocket watch, I've always loved looking at them, imagine having one" she smiled "A pocket watch? I'll look into it" I smiled back "Yay" she smiled a lot more
When Nat walked into the door with Fury, Alice ran to her and hugged her tightly "Oh, someone's a hugger today" she chuckled "I'm just happy" Alice pulled away "And why are you happy?" she asked "Wings are for dinner, and I get to see you" she smiled "And yet I don't get a hug and 'I'm happy to see you Fury'" Fury said walking in "Trick statement, you don't like hugs" she chuckled "And yet you are right" Fury chuckled
After dinner we had decided to play some board games when I had walked in holding a box behind my back, "Guess who has an early birthday surprise" I smiled as Alice turned around, I kneeled beside her handing her the box, when she opened it she practically screamed and gave me a hug "Thank you"
"What did you get her?" Nat asked, "A pocket watch" I said while Alice was still wrapped around my neck "As in your family heirloom?" she asked "Yea, but she's old enough to not lose it" I answered, "It'll be in the box at all times, and if it is out of the box, it'll be wit dad so I know I don't lose it" Alice smiled "See, responsible" I said looking at Nat who was giving me a look
Alice had started to doze off so I picked her up and carried her to my room then laid her down and covered her up with the blanket, then kissed her head before walking out quietly then back to the living room "You are raising her well Barnes" Fury said "Thanks" I said going to sit down
The next morning Alice had walked into the kitchen "Morning" I said "Morning" I answered "What's for breakfast?" she looked at me "waffle bar" I smiled "yay" she smiled as Nat and Fury walked in with some whipped cream sprinkles, fruits, and chocolate chips "Someone sounds happy" Nat chuckled as she sat the stuff on the counters and Fury sat down ruffling her hair some "There are waffles for breakfast, of course I'm happy" Alice smiled brightly "Well we're all glad that you are excited" Nat sat down as I started to make some waffle batter
After breakfast Alice was drawing while sitting by Nat, I don't know what she was drawing but she seemed pretty focused on it, "Whatcha drawing little one?" I asked "A surprise" she answered with a soft smiled then went back to drawing while laying her head back on Nat's shoulder, she eventually fell asleep, dropping the half finished picture onto the floor
It was a butterfly, a beautiful one, on top of daisy, the only one out of a field of lavender flowers, it was the best drawing I have ever seen, I covered Alice up with a blanket then sat down beside Nat "Did you know she was drawing that?" I asked grabbing her hand "Yea" she answered "And I wasn't told" I joked "she did say it was a surprise" she chuckled
Once Alice woke up Fury and Nat were just leaving, she got up a hugged Nat "Bye" she said hugging her "Bye" she hugged back then Alice pulled away and looked at Fury "Bye" she smiled softly at him "Bye' he said hugging her "I thought you don't' like hugs" she hugged back "Well, we all try something new" he chuckled
