Erma: An old friend

Chapter 2: Birthdays, and meeting

Blairwood. A very normal town in the state of Illinois, USA. Filled with normal citizens, a normal lifestyle, a normal neighbourhood, and normal kids.

Or as they would say...

A birthday party was held in one of the houses somewhere in the suburban neighbourhood. 

In the living room of the house, adults were talking, and kids playing around together. 

Until the light were all switched off as everyone turned to see a blonde-haired and spectacle man carrying a cake with candles on it as he walked toward a girl with long black hair and black & white eyes. 

And as he approach the girl, everybody in the house began to sing the birthday song to the girl. 

People in the house: " Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to Erma..."

The blonde-hair man placed the cake on the table as the girl, whose name is Erma, looked at the cake as her eyes gleamed with happiness and excitement as everybody sing the last part of the song. 

People in the house: " Happy birthday, to you...."

After singing the last phrase of the song. Erma then closed her eyes before blowing out the candle as everybody cheered. 

[Somewhere at the suburban streetway]

On the other side of the neighbourhood. 

A man suddenly appeared as he walked out from the forest wiping off the leaves that were stuck on his coat. 

He then looked at the neighbourhood as he analyse the suburban area until he sees the house that he was looking for. 

Smirking to himself, he then proceeded to walk towards the suburban neighbourhood, while also not watching out for vehicles that narrowly avoided him as some were almost close to hitting while others were swirling away to avoid him. 

[At Erma's home.]

The Party goes on as parents were talking to one another. And kids either play games or eat cakes and snacks. 

And not known among them. Erma had just got back again from the back door with a DVD case in her arm that shows the title "Warrior unicorn princess: Season 1", and just she was about sneak through the party to her room.

" ERMA!"

Erma then jump in surprise as she desperately tries to hide the DVD before hiding it behind a flower pot that was beside her as she turn to see her friends. 

Her friends then grabs her hands and they dragged her out of the house with smiles on their faces as they lure her to the backyard. And in the backyard, there shows a bunch of games that were placed with birthday themes related. 

And so the games began as the kids have fun. 

Well, mostly Erma, who kept using her powers to win. 

And as the kids were having fun in the backyard. Inside the house, the parents were also doing their own fun time, which is watching the American football championship. 

"Come on, Come on, Come on, Come on- NO!"

"DAMN IT! WHY?"

"YOU HAD IT, BUT YOU JUST HAD TO SLIP IT AWAY!"

"HIT HIM!"

"GO GO GO GO!!!!"

More like scolding than enjoying, I would say.

And as they were going on with rants at the players of the team they are supporting.

*DING-DONG*

A doorbell rang. 

But nobody answer it as everyone was just focusing on the game. 

Sportscast: "AND HE IS- OHHHHHH, LOOK LIKE ANOTHER POINT LOSE FOR THE XXXXX TEAMS (A/N: I don't know how American football works as I only watch other sports games including football (FIFA Football, which is also known as Soccer), So yeah, please forgive me if there were some faults on it.)

"DAMN, IT!!!!!!"

"GAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!"

"EVERY SINGLE TIME!"

"YOU HAD IT BUT YOU HAVE TO SLIP IT AWAY!!!!!"

As the adults complained about the score, the doorbell then rang again, but this time repeatedly rang.

*DING-DONG, DING-DONG, DING-DONG, DING-DONG, DING-DONG....*

"AAAHHHHH, CAN SOMEONE ANSWER IT!"

"Alright alright alright, I'm coming."

The blonde hair man then walks to the door as he grumbles about the point loss of his team. 

He then open the door as the doorbell stopped ringing. 

Blonde-hair man: " YES, may I help you?"

As the blonde-hair man opened the door he stop. 

His eyes were opened wide with stunned face as if he sees someone that had died but reappeared. 

"Honey, who is it?"

A woman's voice was heard as the woman with long black hair similar to Erma was rushing to her husband, who was standing at the door entrance like a statue.

Long Black haired woman: "Honey, the game is about to start, what's taking you-"

The woman stopped as she sees her husband's expression, and with a sense of worry, she goes to his side and she turns to see who is her husband looking at. 

Long Black-haired woman: " Honey, What's wrong?"

As she looked out at the door. Her eyes were met with a man dressed in a white suit shirt with black pants and a long black overcoat and also wearing a Chinese opera mask. 

And as neither of the couple were saying anything. The man in the mask then spoke as he dug his hand to take out a wrapped box.

Man with the mask: "It's has been awhile, hasn't it?"

The man then show the present to the couple as they looked at man, who then slowly took off his mask to reveal his face covered up in bandage that shocked the wife, except for the husband who just stood there as his eyes stared at the man with sense of recognizing him. 

Man with bandage face: "Old Friend?"
