Omniscient
Michael could feel Shani begin to stir in his arms as the sun softly danced between the cracks left in the horizontal blinds found in the couple's bedroom. Causing him to tighten the hold he had around her waist as he nuzzled his face further into her wild head of curls. "Five more minutes." He begged gaining a grunt from Shani who tended to be an early bird. Even on their off days.
"Five more minutes." Shani repeated imitating the same childlike tone Michael had unknowingly used.
"Hey." He whined. Slowly sliding his hands under her arms and roughly tickling her. Sending her into a fit of uncontrollable laughter as she tried her best to get away from him. "Okay.Okay." He bargained. Placing his hands into the air after earning a stern look from Shani as she made her way to the other side of their king sized bed. "Come here." He requested. "Please." He begged seeing as how Shani had only managed to shake her head no. "Baby please come here." He repeated tapping the spot she had crawled away from. Still warm beneath him.
"Do not tickle me Michael." She warned. Pointing her fingers at him. Her tone almost as serious as her facial expression.
"I promise." He agreed. His eyes still heavy from the nights slumber. His voice still raspy and deep.
And with that Shani crawled back over to him. Michael placing the covers over them as she rested against his left bicep. His face eagerly falling back into her head full of wild curls. Intoxicating him with the scent of limes and mangoes he'd grown to love.
He placed soft kisses against the exposed flesh of her shoulder. Which smelled of cocoa butter and toasted coconut.
He quickly found himself hardening behind her. His rugged hands gently exploring her body as she playfully moved away. "Five more minutes Michael. That's it." She warned causing him to laugh into the crook of her neck.
"I can do it in four." He bargained. Pressing himself into her backside. Shani softly shook her head as Michael wrapped his fingers in between hers. Deciding not to test his luck this morning.
He already knew what he was up against.
Today was the big day. Shani was expecting to receive the call that could change not only her life but the trajectory of her entire career.
And without her saying it he knew she was nervous. She'd tossed and turned a majority of the night. That is up until Michael took it upon himself to cradle her into his chest. Where she found solace and enough peace to sleep soundly for a few hours.
He hated that regardless of how much life he spoke into her and her work she still doubted herself at times.
An insecurity he didn't create but damn sure one he wanted to destroy.
"How you feeling?" He quizzed. Taking one of her coils in between his fingers and toying with it. Shani allowing a deep sigh to escape her heart shaped lips.
"I don't know." She lied.
"Nervous? Excited? Afraid? All of the above?" He offered hoping to create a segue for a much needed conversation between the two.
"The latter." She admitted. Turning into his bicep and placing a soft kiss on it. Thankful that he cared enough to ask. And to have him beside her during one of the scariest moments in her life.
"Don't be." He whispered into the side of her face. Pulling her nearer even when it seemed impossible. "You got this." He assured. "And I already told you if your boy won't make the movie I will." He comforted.
Shani small smiled just enough for Michael to notice the dimple in her right cheek from behind her. Which brought warmth to his heart.
"I know you will baby." She cooed pulling his left hand to her lips and placing a kiss on the back of it. "This is just personal." She admitted. Slowly but surely opening up. "I just feel like all roads in my life have led up to this moment." Shani added. Turning into his chest for the first time this morning. Causing him to softly cup her face as her eyes fell on his chest. "I've waited my entire life for this moment ... and what if it doesn't happen ..." She trailed. Michael pulling her chin up and placing a loving peck on her lips.
