Kaladin. May 6th... 9:05 am.
Elliot showed up at the police starion 5 minutes after I did. Niether of us knew what was going on. Multiple officers looked at us with disgusted or fearful looks, the water jug bubbled as we went by, even it was scared. The Officer standing next to the water jug jumped the highest out of all the other police. It was quieter than the library I had come from.
"What's going on..?" I whispered up to Elliot.
"No idea." He looped his pinky with mine, pulling me closer to Detective Sinclair. We were pulled into two seperate interrogation rooms, fate ripping us apart.
"Where were you last night?" Detective Golder asked. She was an older woman. Dark gray hair and stress wrinkles, bright blue eyes that were still just as vibrant as she was when she wrote her book about her first big murder case. I've looked up every single one of these detectives, I may know more than Cheif Hunter. Which, also puts me higher on their suspect list.
"I was with Elliot most of the night. At 10:30pm I left to go home. I got home at 10:45pm," I answered, pretty proud of myself for not voice cracking.
"Where were you around 2am?" She leaned forward on her elbows.
"In bed, reading my book." To counter her forward, I leaned backwards, studying her intentions through her eyes.
"You're not one to be easy, are you?" Detective Golder smirked. I tilted my head to the right ever so slightly. "I'll get straight to the point then. We found another body, Clair Jupingham. Well... we found her head."
My eyes widened with shock. The room began to spin and all I could head was my shallow breathing. "W-What?" I stammered out.
Detective Golder nodded and stood from her seat. "We suspect one of the 4 of you, if not all, had something to do with it."
"4..?"
"Yes. You, Elliot, Summer... and Anatole."
"Who?"
Unknown. Ugh... May 6th, 9:30 in the morning.
"Name?" The front desk lady asked in a voice that made her sound like she hated everything in the world.
"Anatole Noe." I fidgeted with the pen on the counter. This was taking longer than I had liked. My brother asked me so many questions "How are you linked to this?", "What are they going to ask?", and "ARE YOU GOING TO TELL THEM ABOUT THAT NIGHT!?" Lots of begging as well. I was more so annoyed with the whole situation.
"Down the hall. Detective Sinclair is waiting for you." The lady shooed me away, after taking the pen I was gidgetting with. Annoyance was written all over her face, she took a strong disliking too me... that made a small smile crack.
I wandered down the hall. At 8:30 this morning I got a call from the police, asking me to come in for questioning. Nothing made sense on how I was connected to the lost girls. Detective Sinclair greeted me at the door of an interrogation room, shaking my hand.
"Right this way!" The Detective hurried me inside. I was greeted with a sad, lonely boy. He was staring at the ice cold steel table. I was placed in the chair next to him. "I'll ask the same questions since you two don't seem to know eachother."
"What..?" The boy next to me finally snapped back to reality. "I can't go back to Kaladin?"
"No. I need you two to be here." Detective sat down across from us, a warm smile on his face. Whoever Kaladin is, he must have gotten the cruel detective, I thought. "As I asked Elliot, where were you earlier this morning? Around... 1-2 o'clock?"
"At home. Asleep." My words came out shorter than I wanted them to.
"I see... what about last night?"
"Working a double shift." I readjusted in my seat, folding my arms tightly against my chest. The boy beside me let out a small scoff. I snapped, "What?"
"You have to be specific. Never done one of these before?" The boy smirked at me.
"I'm not a law breaker, if that's what you're implying."
"Oooo goody two-shoes got his panties in a bunch?"
"Good lord, you're more childish than my brother." I sighed, looking back to the detective. "I worked a double shift from 6-11 at the convient store juat down the road."
Detective Sinclair nodded and continued with questioning. I knew it was going to be a long day with the boy next to me. What shocked me most, though, were the other 2 suspects. Never had I imagined I would see two other teenagers accompany the reckless boy and I to a larger confrence room. Detective Sinclair stood near a big white board with many pictures of us, Olympia/Lacey map, and all of the dead or missing girls within the area. Another detective stood at the head of the table, tossing a file between the four of us. She was one of the most in shape older women I have ever seen.
"Which one of you will break first, hm?" She flashed up a bone chilling smirk.
"I told you what I saw. You should be questioning that guy, not us!!" The skinny, but tall, girl slammed her hands on the table, standing up. She had a thick British accent, which confused me because she was so tan. I thought she would have moved to Washington from Hawaii or Texas.
"Summer, please remain calm." Detective Sinclair stepped forward. So the other two were Summer and Kaladin. Who was the boy next to me?
"This is bullshit," the boy spat. "How are we even associated with this, Detective Golder?"
"There was an anonymous tip to search Elliot's locker, Kaladin's trunk, Summer's running bag, and Anatole's closet. Unfortunately, after we got a warrant for Anatole's house, we found everything thrashed." Detective Golder, the older woman, smirked at us more. "Why was that, kid?"
"It's a long story." I glared.
"Sum it up."
So I was being picked out first. Lovely.
