"Alexander?" a small voice spoke from the end of the hall. Fuck. I slowly turned to Alex's friend Emily, carefully sliding my sword back in my backpack. She got closer to me. "Are you waiting on Alex?" She asked glancing at the classroom door. A little grin spreading across her lips. I assumed she must've been waiting on him.
How was I going to get her out. More importantly, did I have time? I straightened my back carefully moving my backpack out of her sight, realizing I haven't answered her yet.
"Yes. I'm walking him home today. Did he not tell you?" She raised an eyebrow, questioningly.
"No?" She said squinting at me. Damnit, I'm not a good liar. Suddenly a loud shriek came from the classroom, only belonging to Alex. Along with a bunch of clanging from the other side.
"Shit," my heart pounded in my chest. "Emily do me a favor and get the hell out!" Not waiting for her to reply, I darted for my backpack once again taking out my sword. I swung the door open and was welcomed by a desk flying my way. I gripped my sword tight and swung it at the desk, splitting it in half and sending broken pieces of wood everywhere.
"Alexander!?" A shocked Alex said his voice sounding strained from the pressure that the now monstrous looking Ms.Jenkins had around his neck. She was no longer in her human skin. She was now a huge pile of flesh with green and purple blotches splattered across her skin. Her eyes bulging and her huge mouth open wide, releasing an indescribable stench that circulated the room.
My eyes landed on Alex. His mouth a-gaped as he struggled to breathe. Jenkins had her long black claws around his neck. His legs kicked at a feeble attempt to get free but it was useless. He chocked, saliva rolling down his chin, and his eyes tearing up.
"Alexander you dare get in my way. I'll kill you," she snarled at me, her eyes fixed on Alex. Just then her long purple tongue dripping black monstrous juices flicked itself against his face.
"Let him go," I spoke calmly walking closer gripping my sword, my knuckles turning white.
"A-Alexander help please I c-can't breathe," Alex choked. I lunged forward bringing my sword down on the hand that was wrapped around Alex's neck ripping it in half. Jenkins howled in pain stumbling back, her long tongue swinging in the air. Alex dropped to the floor coughing violently, his body trembling.
I needed to get him out of here. That was my main priority. Thankfully, Jenkins was a level D beast. She would be easy to deal with. I knelt down and scooped Alex off the floor cradling him to my chest, my hands under his knees.
"NOT SO FAST ALEXANDER," Jenkins yelled running toward me her arm positioned above her head ready to strike.
I moved Alex enough for me to bring my knee up, connecting it with Jenkin's face. Jenkin's head snapped to the side letting out a groan before grabbing my ankle from the air and twisting it painfully. This fuckin bitch. She took my ankle lifting me and Alex in the air before sending us flying.
I grunted, falling to the floor. I quickly cushioned Alex's landing with my body. We rolled on the floor until my back slammed a desk stopping our turmoil. I winced. That definitely left a bruise. I struggled to my feet, finding it best to leave Alex on the floor.
He was slowing me down. The best decision was definitely to defeat Jenkins then get Alex. I stole a glance at him, finding him passed out, his hair framing his face. I quickly shook my head, before turning toward Jenkins. I let out a painful breath my vision blurring, small sprinkles of sweat littering my forehead. I feel like fainting any second, but if I do Alex will be in danger.
Jenkins ran toward me her fist connecting with my stomach pushing me into the desks behind me. I felt the air leaving my lungs as I coughed up blood and saliva, my chest feeling like it's closing.
"COME ON ALEXANDER. GET UP," She threw her head back her laugh bursting my ear drums. Fuck I felt weak. When Jenkins saw no sign of me moving she made her way toward an unconscious Alex laying on the floor.
Then a shriek came from the other side of the room. Jenkins attention snapped toward Emily standing at the doorway. Her legs shook and her eyes wide. Her little human mind wasn't registering what she was seeing. Damnit. Didn't I tell her to get away?
"Emily what are yo-u doing here!?" I choked my voice sounding hoarse.
"A-Alexander what's going on!? What's wrong with Alex!? What's that thing!?" She pointed to Jinkins. I didn't have time to answer her questions.
Jinkins picked up a desk bending it behind her head before propelling it at Emily. She screamed. Damnit Emily. I grabbed my sword throwing it at the desk, watching it split into two before it can hit her. A few small pieces of wood flew at her but a few scratches is better then death. I rushed toward Alex picking him up as I jumped over desks. I ran with Alex toward Emily's direction.
"Come on move! We have to get out of here," I yelled at her, Jenkins galloping on all four's, hot on our tails. Emily followed behind me as we sprinted down the hall. Jenkins swiped at our feet with her black, claw like fingernails. I grunted, ignoring the pain in my ribs and back as I tried to move faster.
I made a sharp turn, Emily not being able to keep up tripped on her ankles and fell. She stumbled to her feet, but Jenkins was getting closer.
"Are you fuckin kidding me," I bellowed. I quickly ran back to grab her and throw her over my shoulder just as Jenkins comes.
She screamed as the air was knocked out of her lungs by the shear force her stomach had hit my shoulder. I didn't care about being gentle, I cared about getting the hell out.
"Alexander look out!" She yelled. I looked back and there Jenkins was, burrowing toward us. The two deadweights on my shoulders were slowing me down. I quickly reached in my pocket pulling out a glowing purple orb and tossing it on the floor. It shattered and a portal appeared. A portal to headquarters to be precise.
"Emily listen to me loud and clear we don't have much time. When you open your eyes on the other side. Tell them Xander sent you," I point to Alex's unconscious body over my shoulder ,"and that he is the gem. They will protect you,"
Emily's eyes widen in bewilderment.
"Alexander what are you talking about," she said in panic. "What do you mean the oth-," before she could finish I pushed her and Alex in the portal. Her screams faded as she went deeper inside and the opening closed behind her and Alex. I turned toward Jenkins.
"Now I can take care of you, Bitch," I smirked.
