Nick's Pov:

Imogen rolled around on the carpet, laughing. We had spent the entire day studying for the upcoming exam, and now we were trying to hold back our laughter as we made fun of the newly crowned king. He was... well, he was a prince..although, he surely didn't act like one. He was short, curly-haired, and according to recent rumors... gay. (HELP WHEN I WROTE GAY MY AUTOFILL IMMEDIATELY WROTE 'F@G' 😭) I was one of Prince Charles' servants they were all boys, seeing as how we can't have a women dressing and undressing the prince. Imogen happened to be one of Princess Victoria's servants, which is how we met and became the best of friends. Don't get me wrong, the prince is amazing, and I find him funny... but he's not king material. It'd be fine if he wasn't king material normally, but his father had passed away a week ago, leaving Prince Charles to soon be King Charles. Soon, Imogen and I stopped laughing and listened to the incoming message sent from the palace.

'All servants report to the castle, NOW.'

the words flashed in red. What could be so important that we needed to get there immediately? Imogen and I looked at each other before scrambling up and grabbing our coats, hurrying to be to the castle in time.

We made it to the castle almost 20 minutes later, seeing as how it is almost a 40-minute walk, we made quite the time. All of the servants that were present were gathered around an old round table, likely used as a bar table, assuming the stains were from drinks. Charles sat around them all, his hands were folded over another, and his smile wasn't on display.

"As you've noticed, I've gathered you all here today, I wanted to speak to you all about the infectious disease that seems to be clinging to our town." Right. Along with the death of our king, we've also had to deal with the loss of several thousands from the deadly disease that seems to follow us around. "It seems we have found a cure, but in return for finding it, we have had to... sacrifice some things." He looked nervous to say the next thing.

'What did you sacrifice?'

'Is there more than one sacrifice?'

'Are we gonna die?'

Words shouted out from the crowd, and I sighed. These people have no idea what they're talking about.

"No, we aren't going to die, but I'm afraid we will have to sacrifice some of the children and adults of the city to test if the cure works. But to test if it works, we have to inject the actual disease into them, and if it doesn't work... you get it." Wait. Does that mean that our families could die?

Yasss us this slightly based off of Cinder??? Maybe.... anyways! Hope you like it yall! This is just pt 1 so yeah.
