Everything finally came true, the fairy tale I wished for as a young girl who struggled in a toxic family where they used her for her potential. Spending two weeks in America, celebrating the pregnancy and getting scans and tests to determine how far I am along. They said it was common for woman to not know that they are pregnant at 12 weeks, it's apparently a genetic thing. But the happy part is, we can keep it secret or tell the world.
But, we both decided that the little grommet. Will remain our little secret for now, but to tell our individual parents and parent. Walking into the office of the Archangel building. I stood there, heart thumping in my chest. There was my father, sitting at my desk. As I kinda wished I was going up against Yinka and Jide.
"There's my girl!" He cheered as I walked up to my desk, placing my bag on it. I placed my hand down, resting on it as I popped a hip out. Hand on waist, looking at my father as I demanded.
"Get out of my chair, now." I sternly told him, he laughed it off. Getting to his feet, he opened his arms. Asking for a hug, looking at his in disbelief. I shoved him back, sitting down in my seat. "Last time you hugged me I was like 12, don't start this shit now."
"Alright alright, why did you call me here then?" He questioned, sitting on the corner of my desk, I leant back in my chair. Grinding my teeth, debating whether or not to tell him and my feelings.
"I have something to tell you." I begun, as he raised an eyebrow. He was intrigued.
"Yeah, what?" He asked, folding his arms. Letting out a heavy sigh, I bit the bullet. Swinging side to side in my chair, I looked at him dead in the eye. To make sure he knew I wasn't messing around.
"JJ and I are-." He rudely cut me off, trying to fill in the blanks.
"Getting married?" Grabbing a stapler on my desk, I chucked it at his chest. Raising my voice at him, telling him.
"Shut up for once, let me say what I need to say. Please." I sat forward in my chair, giving him a glare. He gulped heavily, it was loud. He put his hands up in surrender.
"I'm sorry, please." He softened, closing my eyes as I took another deep breath.
"Ok." I got to my feet, brushing my pant suit down in an anxious manner. My eyes landed back on my fathers. "I am pregnant, with JJs baby. I'm keeping it, I'm 12 weeks pregnant." I explained to my father, he sat there quietly. Watching him get emotional, I raised an eyebrow. Unsure on how to take this expression.
"Dad?" I took a step forward towards him, making sure he was ok.
"I'm... I'm going to be a grand poppy?" Tears rolled down his face, I was shocked.
"Yeah. But, there is ground rules for you to be in our life. To be in the baby's life, I am not putting them at risk of anything, like you have done with me. I don't want JJ and i to be looking for the baby in a warehouse somewhere, I'm not going through that again. So, it is either. This will be the last time you see me and ever contact me, or... you clean up your act and I must see results."
My father got to his feet, placing his hands on either side of my arms. He looked at me dead in the eyes, soft and sorrow. A look I haven't seen from him in a very long time.
"I promise you, I will make this world a safe place for them. I'll make sure nothing in this world will harm him or her." His hands came up to my face, cupping it gently. "I promise you."
