Probably should have mentioned this last chapter, but Kaira has the same color hair as Kaito with gold highlights. She's also got heterochromia (cuz I think it's cool, bite me) - her left eye is just like Kaito's but her right eye is golden. I can't decide what her 'color' is gonna be, just cuz Rin's already associated with orange and Kaito's blue. Maybe purple?? But if anyone wants to try drawing Kaira, pls dm me the pic - I wanna seeeeeeeeee. Oh yeah, forgot to mention - NO SHIPS IN THIS STORY!!! Everybody acts like siblings for each other cuz I said so.

KAIRA'S POV

My body collapses under a tree, absolutely exhausted. I just ran who-knows-how-long from the only place I've ever known. The injuries I have, though not severe, hurt from the bark digging into my back. Slowly, I try to push myself up, but my body doesn't allow me to move. I can hear people talking, and that makes me want to get up and hide somewhere. Six teens walk into the area. Two boys and four girls. There's a dark blue haired boy, a brunette, a pinkette, a tealette, and two blonds - one boy and one girl. All six of them are leading a horse. There's a black horse, an orange one, two tan ones, a brown one, and a gray one. The dark haired boy is the biggest, but the brunette seems the oldest. I tense up when the tealette makes eye contact with me and points me out to the other five. She hands the rope for her horse to the brunette and walks up to me, stopping when I flinch. The older boy isn't far behind her, also without his horse, putting his hand on her shoulder when he catches up.

"Kaito, she looks kind of like you. Her eyes are really pretty." The girl says, looking at him.

"Don't freak her out too much, Miku. She's scared enough as it is, from the look of it." The boy replies. He gets down on one knee and edges closer to me, stopping every time I flinch. "What's a kid your age doing out here alone? There almost isn't anyone out here for miles."

"Good thing we decided to go for a sunset trail ride, huh?" Miku asks with a giggle. Kaito slowly gets right in front of me. He makes sure I know what he's about to do before he picks me up.

"I'm not sure what to do about this. There's the orphanage -" He stops when I tense up. My body starts shaking in his arms no matter how hard I try to stop it. His arms squeeze me for a second before letting go. "Shhh, I didn't mean to scare you. Is that where you came from?" Hesitantly, I nod. If they bring me back, the headmistress is most likely going to kill me. Literally.

"Kaito! What's going on over there?" One of their friends calls. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah!" Miku calls back. "One second!"

"We can't just leave her here." Kaito says after a moment.

"Let's go back to the others and figure this out." Miku suggests, putting her hand on his shoulder. Kaito nods and adjusts me so I'm sitting on his hip as they start walking. The tealette is behind me. "Wow, her hair's really matted. That's going to take a while to brush out."

"Awww she's so cute!" The pinkette squeals, walking over. She's leading Miku's horse as well as her own. "How'd she end up all the way out here?"

"I'm assuming she came from the creepy orphanage." Kaito replies, squeezing me again when I flinch. "She's probably all by herself."

"We should bring her back, if she's from there." The brunette says, walking over with the brown and orange horses. I tense up, and Kaito holds me tighter. The orange horse walks up to us and lightly presses his nose to my cheek. Kaito pets the large animal's head, lip quirked up.

"I dunno. If she's that scared of just the word, I doubt that place is pleasant." Kaito comments, holding me a little tighter when a shudder runs up my spine.
