A/N: Hey look! I'm alive! I updated! The suspense is over! And this is adorable!
The room was candle-lit and had obviously been done up for the occasion. There were towels folded on the dresser, a vase full of red roses on one of the nightstands that flanked the king-sized mattress. The bed was made, a simple blue comforter that matched the curtains covering the windows. And on the bed, written with rose petals were two words surrounded by a heart. Two simple words that made Jack’s heart flutter; he thought for a moment he might pass out.
He heard Alex’s footsteps on the stairway behind him, but he couldn’t move as he brought his hands to his face. He didn’t want to cry, repeated it in his head like a mantra, but soon the tears were falling down his face. Happy tears.
He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to face Alex. “Marry me?” the older boy whispered.
Jack just smiled like an idiot, motioning with his hands for Alex to come closer. When he complied, Jack snaked his arms around his neck, pulling him closer and kissing him. Pulling back slightly, he offered a mumbled, tear-choked, “Of-fucking-course, you dumb-ass.” Alex managed to release a chuckle, pulling his lover closer and kissing him sweetly.
Jack tucked his head into Alex’s neck, hugging him close as the tears continued to flow down his cheeks, forming a wet spot on Alex’s t-shirt. “Lex?”
“Yes, my darling?”
“I love you so much. So, so much. You know that, right?”
“Of course I do. I love you, too. Now come on, we gotta get ready to go,” Alex said as he pulled away slightly.
“Where are we going?” Jack wondered, wiping the remaining teardrops from his eyes.
“Well, I figured we would want to go out and celebrate. I booked us reservations at a restaurant, and then I thought we could come home, watch a movie, and maybe have some, ya know, alone time.” He stroked Jack’s back, laughing lightly as he perked up.
“I’m down,” Jack agreed, nodding his head adamantly.
“Great! It’s kinda fancy though, so you’ll wanna wear something nice.”
“But all I have is my tour clothes. Literally a suitcase full of JAGK and boner tees.”
“Look in the closet,” Alex commanded, pointing his finger to the door by the dresser.
Jack did as he was told, opening the door to find it stocked with all the clothes he had not brought on tour, and Alex’s full wardrobe as well. “How did you do all this?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“There were some arrangements made. My mom helped quite a bit. I’ve known for a long time, Jack, that I was going to marry you some day. And I figured this would be the perfect time to ask. I wanted to make tonight as special as I possibly could.”
“Well, you did a damn good job,” Jack laughed. “How are you so perfect?”
“I don’t know, but I bet I’d be a mess without you.” Alex smiled hugely at that statement, for he knew it was beyond true. Even when Jack was asleep in the hospital that first night, he’d been a fucking wreck. If his true love was gone, then his life might as well be over.
Jack, now shirtless and carrying a dress shirt and slacks, strode over to the shorter boy, grabbing him by the hips. “How did I get so lucky?” he whispered, pulling Alex’s body up against his own and kissing his lips gently.
“Come on, get ready,” Alex groaned as he pulled away. “You’re gonna make us late.”
“Ugh, fine.” Jack picked the clothes up off the bed, turning and entering the hall bathroom. He undressed as quickly as possible, starting the shower water and hopping in. He rushed through the motions of washing up, although it was especially nice after being in the hospital for so long. It’d been way too long since he’d last showered.
