SEEING AS MY FATHER WAS NOT GOING to stop any time soon, I got up from the dinner table."Hey, hey, hey." My older brother said softly.
I sat back down.
"Where do you think you're going? You can't leave me here alone. Dad might try and set me up with that girl down the street again! Remember?! With all the dolls and teacups" He said with pleading eyes.
I laughed softly.
"Yeah, I remember her. She tried to have sex with you in front of all her dolls" I snorted.
"That was hilarious," I said looking at my sweet brother.
"Exactly my point." He said smiling.
"I'm sorry but I can't keep listening to him call me a failure. He doesn't need to keep telling me. I got the jist of it." I said cutting the small peas on my plate into fourths.
I knew my brother was looking at me.
Watching my every move, he knows I hate it.
The look of pity.
Of course, Dad hadn't taken a clue and had kept going with his "Lana, when are you joining my newspaper."
And his "Lana, how's the school paper doing?".
And not to forget his most popular and famous "Lana, you are a failure to this family.
And his newest, "Lana, how on earth did you crash a yacht?". Yeah, I drank a little too much that time.
"Pzzz" I heard coming from my left.
I looked over to find my brother giving me one of his mischievous smiles.
"Run for it, I'll keep them distracted while I tell them about my new girlfriend," he said quietly.
"They are not going to like that...It's perfect!" I said smiling.
"Thanks, Lou. You're my guardian angel. Love ya" I said kissing him on the cheek.
"Love you too, now run before Dad stops talking." He said quietly.
I got up from the table and walked away slowly.
Obviously, Dad was still talking so no one even saw me leave the table.
Even Grandpa was snoozing off.
I giggled to myself.

I ran upstairs and started to change.
Another Life and Death Brigade event happening tonight and I couldn't miss it.
I was picking up my best friend, Estelle.
She said she was wearing her pink House of CB dress.
I'll wear my black one.
This event is a little on the quieter side.
Which is a surprise.
I changed quickly and started to put on my red lipstick.
I put on my black platform Valentino heels that took me months to find.
I just started putting on some eye shadow when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.
I panicked and hid in my walk-in closet.
"Lana?" I heard a voice say.
Mom.
I came out of my closet slowly.
"Hi, mommy" I said in a sweet voice.
"Lana," she said in a stern voice.
Ah, crap.
"Go quickly, your father is yelling at Louis because of his new girlfriend." She said quietly.
"Thanks, Mom, it's not that I don't want to have dinner with you guys. It's Life and Death Brigade stuff" I said honestly.
"I know hon. I was in it too, you know. Now go have fun" she said while hugging me.
"Thank you, Mom," I said pulling away.
I grabbed my purse and put my lipstick in it.
I grabbed my keys and headed for my door.
"Oh, hon?" Mom said as I reached for the door.
"Yeah, Mom?" I said turning around.
"You look beautiful." She said smiling.
"Thank you, mommy" I said smiling.
I headed out.
------------------------------------------------------
I started to drive to Estelle's house.
I started to sing along to "Heartless" by the Weekend when some idiot walked in front of my car when it was a green light.
I honked at him, he looked at me.
It felt as if I got stuck in time.
He waved his hand, to signal he was sorry and walked off.
Interesting, I thought.
He's kinda cute.
