I experienced two surprises that day.
One I should have had expected.
And one that was going to change my life - but i didn't know that yet
June 6th, 1976
Rain, what a pleasant surprise, I thought to myself as I ran through the streets of London.
It was four in the afternoon, so the sun was still well up in the sky, but the clouds were blocking it, making the city look more like an autumn day. I really should have expected the rain. Were in Bloody England, so I don't know why I felt so safe walking out in only a thin jacket, when I could already see before I went, that the clouds were turning grey. Maybe being away from school really did make you dumber.
A little cafe was open further down the street, and I ran as fast as fast as my legs could carry me. If i'm being honest, i think i'm pretty fast myself, i don't know if my sisters would think the same. I have always been the un-sporty one. I will anyday prefer sitting in my room, reading the whole day, and enjoying my own company. Maybe that's why I'm in Ravenclaw, but who knows.
When I came into the cafe, I just stood in the doorway for a few seconds. I'm not usually the most awkward person, but I was a bit embarrassed rushing into the cafe like I was being hunted by someone. My eyes scanned the little cafe for anyone, when a mob of dark hair caught my attention. It was a boy who seemed vaguely familiar. He was sitting at a table a little further inside of the cafe, facing the door, with his head bent forward. His hair was falling down in front of his face. I couldn't see what he was looking at, heck i couldn't even see who he was. Not until he straightened his back and lifted his head. And gosh, did I get the surprise of my life
Regulus Black, Slytherin royalty, son of the house of black, blood supremacist, was sitting in a little cafe in London, dressed in muggle clothing, Reading (after i looked a little closer) the great gatsby, a muggle book, like it was the most natural thing ever.
My eyes were almost falling out of their sockets. That was crazy. That is Crazy. I pulled myself together, held my chin up high, and walked over towards him. Lets fuck a little bit with him. That can't hurt anyone right. I just wanna know what he's doing here, I thought to myself, while smirking a little.
"Well if it isn't Regulus Black sitting in a little muggle Cafe" I said slowly, with fake surprise in my tone. "What are you doing here on such a rainy afternoon. Shouldn't you be looked up in some Manor far away from filthy muggle eyes" I finished off in a mocking tone. I never said I liked the guy, quite the contrary actually, so I wasn't going to be a nice little girl who was kissing his ass like everybody else.
He whipped up his head in surprise at the sound of his name. At first he looked confused and slightly baffled, like I had caught him red handed in doing something he shouldn't - which I technically did. Then he looked a bit frustrated by my mocking, and then back to slightly confused again.
"Who are you, and how do you know me?" he asked in a hushed tone, like he didn't want others to hear. Not that there was anyone else in the cafe, but he probably had yet to notice that.
"I'm hurt that you don't recognize me, considering I beat your ass at the final quidditch game just a few weeks ago" I guess he didn't expect to see me, and had not managed to put two and two together, before the question flew out of him. Still, I refused to be awkward about him not recognising me. It was time for him to get grilled a little after all the times he had called me a mudblood through the years we have gone to school together. How I, a muggleborn, had managed to be in the same year as some of the biggest blood supremacists walking the school grounds at the moment, I don't know, someone must just really have hated me before I was born.
