Chapter 07; things lost and gained

a/n: until stated, the lot of this chapter will be a series of flashbacks.

"Why are you two being so stubborn?" Suki asked her best friend, crossing her right leg over her left. Skye only sighed in response, running her fingers through her short and colorful hair, messing up the 'hard work' that Suki put into curling it.

The two were invited to a party that Cameron threw in accordance to Naomi's wedding. Most all of the superstars and divas were there, meaning that indeed Dean Ambrose was present at the party. When Skye's green eyes met the icy blue ones of one Dean Ambrose, she went silent. She sat on the couch, deciding to keep to herself until she felt it was a good enough time to leave.

Suki, on the other hand, was not having it. She refused to let her friend wallow in sadness for any longer. "You both know you still like each other, at the least. Why don't you guys just talk it out?"

Skye only sighed, taking a sip of the sprite she had to bring along with her. Nobody seemed to understand that Skye didn't drink. "It's a lot harder than you think, Suki. I can't just up and walk over to him like I didn't break his heart, as much as I would love to." Suki scoffed this time, setting down her glass of champagne before grabbing Skye's wrist.

"Wait, what the hell are you doing?!"

"Skye Yesenia Blackwood, you are going to talk to his man like the grown ass woman you are, and you are going to fix this. I am sick and tired of watching you wallow in depression for the past 2 months, you've been off your game in the ring and you've done nothing but sit in your hotel rooms and play Animal Crossing."

Suki, despite Skye's refusal, continued to drag her through the crowd until she was in front of the 6'4" Cincinnati native. He raised an eyebrow at the plum haired lady before stumbling backwards as she pushed Skye into him. "You two are going to stop being little children and talk this shit out right now."

Suki stood there, her arms crossed over her small chest as she tapped her high heeled foot against the wood floor. "Well? I'm not gonna stand here all night!"

Skye let out a small whine, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked up at Dean.

"Uh...H-Hey..."

Dean and Sami let out hearty laughs as Skye told another terrible pun, causing Suki to give her the angriest face Dean had ever seen her make and Skye to latch onto her best friend, proclaiming her love. It had been 3 months since Suki forced the couple to talk things out, and Dean couldn't be more grateful.

He felt like an idiot for overreacting after hearing Skye's side to the story. It was ridiculous to get angry over a past relationship, no matter who she dated. What mattered the most was that it was in the past, and that the two could move forward.

Since that fated night, the two had been on multiple dates, most of them initiated from Skye. Seeing as they traveled a bunch, being employees for the WWE, they were in new places almost every day. While Dean was more of the guy to relax in his hotel room, Skye wanted to explore. He hesitated at first, but he found it endearing how much the girl loved to explore.

The way her green eyes would twinkle when finding something new and cool, the excited squeal she let out when eating food she had never tried before. Skye Blackwood was definitely the traveler, and Dean grew to love that about her. In the few months the two spent together, they both got to know a lot more about each other.

Skye would find herself in Dean's hotel rooms a lot more often than she would really like. They would stay up until the wee hours of the morning, talking about everything from storylines in the past they would have loved to be involved in to philosophical things like the existence of aliens and the end of the world. Soon enough, Dean decided he would take the plunge he dreaded his entire life.
