I glared at Jonathan, why did he have to sing that stupid song all the time. I looked over at Will and smile. I could almost hear his thoughts and I knew he secretly loved it.
"Jonathan come on we're going to be late to the D & D campaign," I groaned and flicked syrup at him.
"You'll be late to work if you don't hurry and we need to load our bikes into the back," Will added smiling and it made me burst out laughing.
Will and I were the type of siblings that just had to look at each other and we laughed. I blame it on his haircut and he blames it on my ears, but really we just knew each other too well.
"Fine let's go, we're leaving mom," Jonathan yelled.
"Be back before 10:00," she ran into the kitchen and gave us all hugs.
" We know mom, it's the same every time," I sighed, but hugged her back.
"I just want you to be safe," she hugged me even tighter, it looked like Will's eyes were going to pop out.
"Sammy, Will let's go," Jonathan yelled holding the door wide open.
"It's ok mom you worry to much," I said giving her one last hug then running out the door.
We rode in silence to the Wheelers house, but when we got there a ball of energy exploded out of me. I ran up to Nance and gave her a high five. She was my only girl friend, but if I had to choose a favorite I would pick Dustin. Not in a romantic type of way, I was already dating someone. He was just the funniest other then Will, but he was a different story.
"Hey Sammy, how are you," Dustin gave me a hug then stumbled down the basement stairs.
"Well, don't even let me answer," I mumble and Will laughed.
"Dude it's not that funny," Lucas retorted following Dustin.
"Well it's true," I started laughing and pulled Will by the hand down the stairs.
                                     ....................
"A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness, it is almost there," Mike drew out his words to cause a startling effect.
"What is it," Will asked.
"I don't know better not be the demogorgon," I whispered.
"What if it is the demogorgon, we're in a deep hole if it's the demogorgon," Dustin practically shuddered saying the words.
"It's not the demogorgon," Lucas shouted confidently.
Mike paused waiting for us to calm down, " An army of Troglodytes charge into the chambers," he yelled slamming six winged miniatures onto the table, "there tails drag on the floor. Boom! Boom! Boom!"
"Troglodytes really," Dustin said looking very unimpressed.
"Toldja," Lucas laughed and folded his arms and leaned back in the chair.
"Shhh," I shushed Lucas and waited for what Mike was going to saw next.
Suddenly Mike got a frightened look on his face he looked behind him, his eyes growing as big as saucers, "Wait... did you hear that? Boom! Boom! BOOM! That sound... it didn't come from the troglodytes. No. It came from something else."
My heart started beating so fast I felt like it pop out of my chest onto table. He slammed a two headed figure onto the table.
"The demogorgon," he shouted I could hear everyone at the table suck in a breath including me.
We all stared straight ahead.
"We're in a deep, deep hole," Dustin whispered.
"It's your roll, Will," Mike half whispered anxiously.
I heard him swallow and I knew that look it's was the   I wish I didn't have to do this look.
"I don't know," he stuttered.
"Fireball him," Lucas pushed.
"I would have to roll a 13 or higher," Will pointed out.
"Do a protection spell then," I replied.
"Don't be a wimp, fireball him," Lucas yelled.
"Protection spell," Dustin urged.
"The demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering. It stomps towards you. BOOM!"
"FIREBALL HIM," Lucas yelled at Will.
"Another step. Boom!" Mike pointed out.
"CAST PROTECTION," It was Dustin's turn to scream at my brother.
"Another step," Mike says again.
"Fireball. Protection," Dustin and Lucas yell at the same time.
Will looks at me for advice, "Fireball that monster."
He nods at me and throws the dice. It hits the table to hard and flys to the corner of the room.
"Where is it," we all yell.
We start to search for the multiple sided dice when Mrs. Wheeler opened the basement door, "Mom we're in the middle of the campaign," Mike whined.
"You mean the end," she tapped her watch, "15 after."
Mike chased his mom out of the basement while I helped look for the dice.
"Does a seven count," Will asked.
"No a seven does count," I said back slightly annoyed.
"Did Mike see it," Lucas asked when Will shook his head he replied, "Then it didn't happen."
I just sighed and walked up the stairs, "Hey Nance do you want the last price of pizza."
"No go please," she came back and slammed the door in my face.
"Brat," I mumbled and walked out to the garage to get my bike.
"Hey Mike," I turned to him before I left.
"What," he asked.
"It was a seven," I whispered before leaving.
"Want to race winner gets any comic," Dustin says after Lucas went his separate way.
"Any comic," Will questioned.
"Any," I agreed.
I start pedaling leaving my brother and Dustin behind.
"I'll take your X-men 134," I yelled back at Dustin slowing down so Will could catch up.
A dark form was standing in the middle of the road, I swerved not to hit them and crashed my bike, I heard will fall beside me. I grabbed his hand and ran to the house. The lights were flickering and Jonathan wasn't home.
"Go to the shed, I'll get dads gun ready," Will yelled at me and we ran to the garden shed in the back yard.
We pulled the door shut and waited with the gun pointed toward the entrance. The next thing I knew everything went dark.
