Part I: Post Flight

The airport was so crowded that day.. People were running around from all directions, flights were being missed, others delayed.

It was the middle of summer, the weather was sticky and our flight was also delayed, obviously.
I had finally spotted a free chair and sat down. I put my well used, once white headphones on and just let the time pass by while I listened to 'There's a Light That Never Goes Out' by The Smiths  for what had seemed to be the eleventy-eight time that day. But what could I say, it's such a good song.

"You mind?" I felt some gentle taps on my shoulder, I opened my eyes to see Noah, a third year and team captain, looking over at the newly empty seat next to me. "Of course!" I quickly sat up, making space with my legs so he could pass.

And just like that, there he was; the best player in team, the guy I had fancied throughout most of high-school, sitting next to me. He was tall, incredibly pale and had a muscular stature. He had beautiful red hair and deep green eyes. His body was covered in freckles.. or most of it, at least.

I definitely fancied him.

Despite him being team captain, and in the same form as I, we never really spoke to each other before. We were perfect strangers.

.

After what felt like forever, we had finally arrived, the flight went well, there were only a few small turbulences every now and then. My best friend, Bill, who was one of our team's official middle blockers, had decided it was the best idea to blabber on and on for the whole two-hour flight about everything that had been going on between some of our peers at school. Of course, although I did rather relax, and maybe take a nap or two, I did not mind hearing all that information.

Intact, I had found out that there were surprisingly more virgins in our year, the third and final year of high-school, than the first years. Freaky information, to be fully honest.

The bus ride to the hotel was no different, except the party animals in our team had fully waken up and decided they'd be blasting music from their speakers at full volume. Their song choice was 'I'm a Barbie Girl'. Of course Bill and I sang along with the rest of the bus. I mean, that song's quite iconic.

When we made it to the hotel, it was already sunset. "How may I help you?" asked the lady at the desk. She was young and a brunette with a shoulder-length 70s style bob cut, it suited her, she was cute, and I could feel myself blushing. "She pretty." Bill commented, checking her out. "William, have some decency!" Our assistant coach scolded him. "Yeah, we're Blue Hawk High, we made a reservation please." Our main coach had told her, trying to ignore what was happening behind him.

"Oh! Here you go!~" She said as she quickly laid out all the keys on her desk. She had such a sweet, melodic voice. It truly was angelic, and it was impossible to not fall for her. "19 rooms for you!" Hearing that, everyone got confused.

Seeing all the faces of disbelief, especially from the coaches, she asked; "I'm sorry, is everything alright?" She now had a worried look on her face. "Its just, we were supposed to have booked 21, I'm sure that together with the email, we sent in 21 forms." The coach kept calm and collected. "Shit." I say under my breath, looking over at my drafted emails on my phone. "What's up?" The assistant coach looks down at me. "I forgot to send in mine, sir." I look back at him, my hands start trembling. "Sir there must've been a mistake on your side, I just checked the email, there are 19 attachments." She glanced over at the coach. "It is our mistake." The assistant coach jumped in, "turns out two of our students did not turn in their forms." He glanced at both Bill and I. "Don't look at me like that!" Bill exclaimed. "I turned in me form alright!" He shoved his phone, showing the sent attachment, at the assistant coach's face.

"Man" Noah sighed out of the blue, making his way to the desk. "I also didn't turn in my form sir." He stood between the coaches and the front desk. "Noah! Really?" The disbelief on the coach's face nearly had me laughing. "Yup." He couldn't sound any more careless than that. "Alright, Lewis, show the others their rooms, I'll talk to these two." The coach pinched his eyebrows in frustration. "We could pay for a room." I suggested, slowly regretting my decision of coming here in the first place. "Charlie, one room is €100, you can't just spend all your money at one go." The coach replied.

"I could give you guys a 25% discount. It's not much but it really is all I can do." The receptionist added to our conversation. "We can also just buy a room to share, so we don't spend everything." Noah added. "Yeah that seems alright." The coach agreed. "Alright, lets do this" He turned to the receptionist. "We'll rent a room." He turned back to Noah and I. "You guys each pay €17.50, I'll tip in the remaining €40." He said.

As soon as our room was paid for and we got the key, we had naturally gone to check it out and unpack our bags. We exit the elevator and made our way to the room, room B412. "Sweet! We're two whole floors away from the coaches." Noah exclaimed. "Yeah. and from our mates as well." I added in a joking tone. "Meh, we can survive." He chuckled.

After what felt like walking through an entire level of the Backrooms, the door was standing right at the end of the hallway. But as we got there, Noah had started digging in his pocket for the key. "Really? Now?" I said in disbelief, glancing at him. "Shut up, you're making it harder." He replied and I chuckled.

At last, he had found it, and as he was opening the door, the room revealed to have-

"Only one bed" We said in sync. "Of course." I sighed.
