I looked down to see a little girl clad in all pink pulling at my skirt. I smiled.
"Mimmy! Daddy's taking me and Jeffy out to the park! Are you coming, mimmy?"
I smiled at my two year old.
"Mommy's busy right now, honey. How about you and Jeffy go to the park with daddy and when you come back, I'll make you some pasta! How does that sound?"
She jumped, making her little pigtails bounce with her. "Yay! Okay mimmy!"
Just then I heard the door to my room open.
"Vi! Are you ready, love? Let's go!" I heard the deep voice speak. In the 8 years that I had known that voice, it never ceased to make my insides squirm.
"Bring her back before dark, okay?" I turned around to face him. His cyan-grey irises bore right into mine.
"Yeah," he simply replied.
"Daddy let's go!" Viona tugged at his classic dress pants. Some things never change.
"Yep, just a second honey. Get your coat and you and Jeffy go wait by the door. Yeah?" He smiled down at her. "I'm just going to talk with mommy."
My eyes widened at this. What the hell did he want to talk about?
Viona ran out of the room, probably to get Jeffy, our golden retriever.
"What did you want to talk about?" I voiced my thoughts.
"I-uh. Just-" he stuttered.
"Are you going to speak or not?" I asked, a little rudely. Though I couldn't care less right now.
"I wanted to speak about the living arrangements?" He spoke it more like a question. A moment of silence ensued.
I was confused. "Okay. What about it? Viona is going to live with me. You can visit her on the weekends. If you have time, that is." I added the last part bitterly. Hopefully he got what I was talking about.
He winced. Huh, hint received, I guess.
"Well, I-uh actually, I-" he paused. By now, we were only a couple feet apart. He looked into my eyes. Now, much more confidently he spoke, "Would you like to come with me for dinner tomorrow night?"
I was shocked to say the least. Why on earth would I go to dinner with him!
Sensing my reluctancy, he quickly spoke up, "You, me and Viona, of course. So, what do you say? For Viona? Just one family dinner."
I guess I could, I thought, for Viona. Only for Viona.
"Yeah, okay," no sooner had I said these words than his eyes grew wide with happiness, "only for Viona." His eyes visibly saddened, but the smile never left his face.
"Yeah, yeah. Okay, great. I'll text you the time and place." He smiled once more and this time, I couldn't help the small smile that came onto my face.
He turned around and left. I walked to the window to see him picking Vi up in his arms. She looked so happy. In his arms. In her daddy's arms. He looked back at me one last time before walking towards the park.
•-•-•
"Daddy, daddy! Come inside! Mimmy's making pasta!" Viona was jumping by the time they had returned from the park. Finn told me they had ice cream. I glared at him for it, but the huge smile on my daughter's face immediately faded my own glare. I'd give anything for that smile to stay on her face forever.
Finn kneeled down so that he was leveled with Vi. "Viona, sweetie, I've got some work at home. I can't say right now, dear." He smiled sadly at her, glancing at me from the corner of his eyes.
"Vi, darling. Go get cleaned up and I'll lay the table okay? Hurry or no dessert." I patted her hair as she ran to her room, obviously scared for the well-being of her dessert. Kids, I smiled at the thought.
"I'll get going. I'll- uh see you tomorrow? Yeah, bye." He stood up and walked towards his sleek, black Mercedes.
"Finn!" I called out just as he was about to get into his car, "Stay! For.. for Viona. I made pasta."
He stared at me. Eyes wide and clearly shocked.
"Finn..?" I called out again.
He shook his head and smiled. A real, genuine, Finn Laurel smile. "Yeah, sure. For Viona." He whispered the last part, but I heard him.
He walked inside. I began leading him to the dining table, but saw that he wasn't following me. I quirked and eyebrow and he simply smirked. "Are you forgetting or ignoring the fact, I don't know, but I used to live here too, love." I glared at his use of the endearment, but walked ahead nonetheless; a little angry at him for being rude. I walked into the modern dining room of the Little Italy Penthouse. After we got married, three years ago, Finn and I moved in here. Well, the renovated version.
By the time we reached the table, Viona looked about ready to eat everything that came her way. The huge grin on her face when she saw Finn walking in behind me was so contagious that even I couldn't contain my small smile. I served Viona a little helping of pasta and after, served myself. Finn had already started by the time I sat back down on my seat. The whole length of the dinner, Viona spoke animatedly to Finn about the friends she'd made at play school. She giggled at the mention of a boy, Mark, and Finn's face hardened. He doesn't want his little girl to grow up. I cracked a small smile at the thought. The whole while that Viona spoke, Finn had sported the sweetest smile on his face. I couldn't help but occasionally stare at his smiling face, only to be caught and be replied with a smirk. The infamous Finn Laurel smirk that I had gotten so used to.
Once we were all done with our food, I told Viona to get changed and head to bed. She had begged for her daddy to come tuck her in. Finn picked up the little bundle of pink into his arms and carried her up the stairs to her room, all the while tickling her in the stomach.
After a while, there was no sign of Finn. Viona's giggles couldn't be heard either. I went to check up on them only to see the lights switched off and the rays of the moon being the only source of light to illumate the pink-ness of the room. Finn was sitting by Viona's bed, a story book in his hand, fast asleep. Viona, who had already changed into her kitten pajamas was sleeping soundly in her bed, tucked among the pink and one hand holding Finn's. I smiled at the adorable scene in front of me.
I walked over to them and sat down beside Finn. He stirred awake just a moment later. He looked confused as to where he was, but when his eyes landed on me, he seemed to regain where he was. He looked to his side to see Viona. He smiled at the sleeping beauty and carefully shook his hand out of her hold. She stirred a little but quickly went back to sleep.
Finn walked out of her room, the book not in his hands anymore. I looked back at Viona and kissed her on the forehead. A smile graced her adorable toddler face. She was so cute. She is mine, I thought, she's ours.
I walked out of her room and saw Finn leaning against the railing. He looked quite in thought. I walked over to him. There was only a few feet distance between us.
"A penny for your thoughts?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"Huh? Oh, its nothing," He gave me small smile, "so tomorrow, it's confirmed, right?"
"Yeah. Viona and I will be there by 7:30. Rosier's Palace right?" I replied to him, a neutral expression on my face.
"Yea-yeah.." He still looked quite distracted, but I knew better than to question it.
We began walking down the stairs, and suddenly this dull ache took over my head. My vision became a little blurred. I stumbled upon the stairs, trying to grab onto the railing. My hold on the railing tightened into an almost death-grip. Finn noticed me and hurried over. I could feel his large, warm arms hold me, I remembered him carrying me down the stairs, I remember the the faint noise of ambulances. After that, it was all black.
•-•-•
When I woke up-what felt like an eternity later- all I could see was white. White sheets, white tiles, white ceiling. Just white. The faint smell of chemicals and disinfectant surrounded me. I was in a hospital. How?
"Mrs. Laurel, oh good! I see you're awake. Your husband's waiting right outside I'll go get him. You get some rest!" A perky blonde nurse said to me. She had left the room just as soon as she had entered.
I sat up on my bed, feeling the whole room spin due to my sudden action. Just then, Finn and someone who seemed to be the doctor entered my room. "Mr and Mrs Laurel, I'm Dr. Fischer, your doctor. You're all good, Mrs Laurel. Nothing big to worry about! It's common for you to have fatigue during your condition. Though, I suggest you don't do much physical work. If you have any questioms, though, I'll be in my office." Dr. Fischer walked out, but not before giving us a tight smile.
"Mia.. You scared me! How're you feeling now?" Finn walked over to me. He sat beside me on the small plastic stool. He held my hand, out of habit, I guess, and for some reason, I didn't shake mine out of his hold, out of habit, I guess..
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine now. Bu-but what happened to me?" I looked at him, straight in the eyes. His familiar cyan-gray irises held so much in them. They were scared, concerned, caring and...loving?
"Well, we were walking down the stairs right after I had put Viona to bed, and you fainted. Mia I was so worried! What would I do if something had happened to you?" He whispered the last part, "What would Viona do without you?" He looked at me, a pained expression in his eyes. Viona, oh my gosh! Where was she? Was she alone at home? Oh my god.
"Viona, where is she? Did you leave her alone at home?" I voiced my thoughts.
"She's with that creep, Miles." He smiled a half smile, obviously remembering the old times. Over the time since I had met Finn again, him and Miles had become, well, people who could at least tolerate each other. "Him and Pearl are with her." Yeah, he had finally gotten Pearl. They were now happily engaged.
"Oh yeah, okay." I looked down at our joined hands. Then it registered in my head. I had had a dull ache in my head. I had fainted. Wha-what could it be? My mom, she had died of cancer. Cancer wasn't hereditary, right? God, I hope not.
With these thoughts swarming my mind, I got up from my bed, my hand still entwined with Finn's. Just as I was about to open the door to my ward, I looked back at Finn and raised an eyebrow. "Hey, Finn, why were the nurses and the doctor calling me Mrs Laurel?"
He smiled sheepishly, "Well, they were asking for your name and I was panicking, so I gave them the first name that came to mind." I rolled my eyes.
We walked, together, to Dr. Fischer's office. As promised, he was in there, sitting behind his huge white desk. "Mr and Mrs Laurel! Good, good. Please take a seat." He smiled at us.
Finn and I took the two brown leather seats in front of him. His office wasnt very big. Maybe the size of an average kitchen. It was all white and there were little posters about health put up everywhere.
"Actually its Ms Lockheart-Laurel." I made sure to correct him this time. As I said this, I saw Finn glance at me.
"As you please, Ms Lockheart-Laurel." He gave me a small smile.
"Mr Laurel, Ms. Lockheart-Laurel, I'm sure you're wondering what had happened to you." He looked at me. The both of us, Finn and I, stared straight ahead, "well, Miss, you had minor fatigue. It's a common symptom during early pregnancy, nothing to worry about. Now if I know correctly, you already have a daughter so it's probably nothing new for you, but if you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me right away." He spoke.
Pregnancy, wha-what? No. Just no. Its gotta be something else right? It can't be! What?
"Dr. Fischer.." Finn spoke up, "um.. Pregnancy?" I looked at him. His expression probably reflected my own- shocked, confused, panicky.
"Well, yes. Mrs. Lau-Ms. Lockheart-Laurel is pregnant. 6 weeks in." He paused to look at us, "I'm guessing you guys didn't know." We shook our heads, still in a state of shock."Well, then, congratulations! You're going be having a baby! You're currently 6 weeks in and I'd like you to schedule an appointment with me at 9 weeks. You can do that at the counter. Again, if you have any questions, whatsoever, do not hesitate to call. I'll give you guys some time talk. " He smiled one last time and walked out, leaving just us in the white room.
"You-you're pregnant... How? When? What?" Finn finally looked at me, first time since we got the news.
"Yeah, guess I am." I looked down to the floor.
"So.. What are we going to do?" He spoke slowly. I could still feel his stare on the side of my face.
"What do you mean? Well I'm going to keep it obviously!" My head snapped up to look at him.
"No-no, I mean, the kid. You are pregnant. You're gonna live alone, still? You'll need someone to take care of Viona. You'll need someone with you." His cyan-gray irises were boring straight into mine.
"I can get help. This is not my first pregnancy so, really, I'm not new to this, I can get through. Plus, Miles and Pearl will be there. With the help, it'll be easy." I was still quite shocked. I was pregnant. It was Finn and my second child. It was ours.
"No, no. I wanna be there when the baby kicks for the first time. I wanna be there when we get the first sonogram. I wanna be there when you go to the hospital. I wanna be one of the first people to see our baby, to hold it." By now, we were both standing, only mere inches between us. "You know what, I'll come to live with you," he paused, "or you guys can come live with me, at the mansion. There's full time workers there, you wouldn't have to do a thing!" His eyes searched mine hopefully.
"What? Finn are you serious? What? Wait. You know what, give me some time to think, okay?" I looked at him again. We were chest to chest by now.
"Oh-okay. Yeah. Um- we should probably get going now. Its almost-" he looked at his watch "-4 am and my car's still at your place. We'll have to get a cab." Then we both walked out of the hospital.
The cab ride home was really awkward. We were both lost in our own worlds, just thinking. Not a word was said the whole time. When we finally reached the Little Italy penthouse, I hurried out as fast as I could. Finn followed me. Just as he was about to get into his car, he called me.
"Mia!"
"Yeah?" I turned around. Finn slowly walked over to me. We were only a couple of feet apart.
"Mia. In the eight years I've known you, you've changed me into someone who I'd never even imagined to be." What on earth is this? "You made me a better man. The eight years that I've known you were the best eight years of my life. I don't know how I survived before you came. I hated you when I first saw you. But, slowly, as we started hanging out more, I just couldn't help but fall for you. And, god, when you said you liked me back, Mia, you had made me the happiest man alive. And the three years that we were married, you only made me fall for you even more. Mia, even now, as I stand in front of you, I can't help but fall even more in love with you. Mia. Now, we've been given a chance to raise another beautiful child. Our child, Mia. I don't wanna waste this. So..." By now I had unshed tears in my eyes. "Ms. Mia Lockheart," he kneeled down in front of me, "I don't have a ring right now, so forgive me. But Mia, would you do me the honor of marrying me, again? I would never let you go ever again. Mia, will you marry me?" I was shocked to say the least. Was he crazy?!
"Finn, seriously? Are you crazy? Finn, we just got out of a divorce! Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean you have to marry me!" I backed away from him a little. "Finn, get up! This is just a spur of the moment thing, okay. Get up Finn!" He got up and walked over to me. We were only inches away now.
"Mia, all through this divorce, I never for once wanted to go through with it! I love you, Mia. I have since the day I met you. I'd never stopped! I'm asking you to marry me because I want to. The baby just coincided, I guess." We were so close by now.
"Finn, what? I-I.. You-Finn.." I was out of words. Finn still loved me. He always had.
'So had you. You just never realized it.' A voice inside my head said to me.
'Shut up!' I weakly fought back.
'You know I'm right, Mia.' It spoke again.
'Ugh!' I was confused. This was crazy! He was crazy. And you're crazy for him. Oh great! It was back.
"Mia, just once, look into my eyes and say you don't love me anymore. Just say it and I'll never bother you again. I'll only be there for Viona and the baby. Just say it once." His cyan-gray irises were challenging.
"Finn, I-I.." I stared into his eyes. The cyan-gray burning with passion and... love. "Finn.. I-I.. I can't!" I walked closer to him. "I.. Just can't say that! Finn. I--I I've always loved you. The divorce- I was devastated! I have always loved you. You, your eyes, your smile and just... you. I just can't look at them without feeling like the whole zoo burst inside my stomach. Finn, I love you." There was barely any space between us now. Only the fabric of our clothes separated us.
"Mia..." He was looking down at me, a huge grin gracing his face.
I smiled up at him, my brown eyes boring straight into his beautiful cyan-gray ones. "Finn, I'd love to marry you, again." He picked me up and spun me around. Our lips were barely centimeters apart. I looked into his eyes, really looked, and saw it. The thing that made fall for him in the first place. The thing that kept me in his life so I could unveil the real Finn Laurel. I saw the Finn Laurel whom I had fallen for years ago.
After what seemed like ages, Finn finally put me down. Our foreheads touching, smiles huge and breaths mingling, he finally did the one thing I had longed for for so so many days.
He kissed me. This kiss was like none other we'd had before. It was full of spark, passion and love. This one kiss spoke all the things that we had wanted to say. This kiss was amazing. His soft pink lips moulded perfectly against mine. His large, warm hands rested comfortably on my back, while mine played with his soft, dark hair.
This man, the one who'd turned my whole life around, was going to be my husband, again. This man, the one with whom I was going to have to beautiful children was Finn Laurel. This man was the man I loved.

So.. This is it! Mia and Finn
I love these guys to death!
Some of my friends had some questions after reading this, so I guessed you guys might have them as well. So I answered them down here.
Q: Why mimmy? Why not mommy?
A: Well, when Viona had just started speaking, Finn, by habit, called Mia, Mia. So Viona caught onto it and started calling Mia mimmy and it just stuck.
Q: Why did they get divorced?
A: Finn started focusing more on work after Viona was born. Mia got really frustrated because of that. They both still loved each other, very much, but Mia wanted a divorce so, Finn being Finn, complied. He just wanted Mia to be happy. I kinda hinted it when Mia bitterly points out that he can visit Vi if he has time.
Q: When did they get divorced?
A: They got divorced a month before this takes place.
That's it for the questions. I really wanna write more of these guys. Like their adventures of the second baby and all. I'll try :)
Thanks for checking this out! I really appreciate it, guys.
I love you all! Kisses for everyone!
Hahah byee for now.
