A flower Hashira walks through the busy streets of a town, after saving a young man the night before, she decided to spend the night and stay the night at an inn. After waking up in the morning, she came to the conclusion that it may be nice to learn more about the town and take a stroll through it.
As she is inspecting some butterfly themed earrings that caught her eye in one of the open shops, she spots a young girl walking by. The young girl reminded Kanae of her adopted little sister, Kanao. A wilted flower, yet to bloom. Kanae quickly exits the shop and looks towards the direction the girl was walking in. Kanae spots the girl still walking away and quickly walks after her. The young girl turns off onto a separate road and Kanae quickly follows.
"Um! Excuse me! Could I talk to you?" Kanae calls out to the young girl. The young girl turns around, startled.
Her eyes dart between the road and Kanae, likely debating her chances from running. Although upon noticing the Hashira robe though, she looks up. "Why?" she asks.
"I... Uhm... Wanted to know your name." Kanae asks, slightly embarrassed.
"My name... My name is Kanari..." Kana is already aware of the existence of the Demon Slayers, but only through myths and stories people like her mother told her.
"Well... Kanari chan... Do you... Have parents?" Kanae asks curiously, though the hurt face Kanari makes gives her a clear enough answer.
"Well... Um... No..." Kanari puts her head down.
"Well... Kanari-chan... Would you perhaps be interested in being adopted by me?" Kanae suddenly asks.
Kanari looks up at Kanae in surprise. "What? Adopt... Me? Uhm... Really?" Kanari asks nervously.
"Yes, really. Now, what do you say?" Kanae asks her with a smile.
"U- um. Well... Yes! Absolutely!" Kanari's face lights up.
"Well, follow me then. Let me take you to where I live." Kanae starts walking away to lead Kanari to the Butterfly Mansion.
"U-understood!" A small Kanari quickly rushes to catch up to Kanae as Kanari takes on a new life.
