Born of Fire

Chapter 4- Mourning

Rhaenyra was quite a busy woman, being the heir to the throne, dealing with over 10 children, the pressure of the greens, and Daemon was a busy man, being hand of the king, fighting his lady wife's battles and having 10 children to deal with. Both of them had no time to mourn their loses.
Having been so close to the lady laena and her brother Laenor was the best thing that happened to her. After the death of the late queen Aemma the velaryons were the only family she had, having lost her best friend alicent, being so hurt by her betrayal, the velaryons stepped up for the girl.
Rhaenyra saw Rhaenys as a mother, and corlys as a father figure, who would step up for her when needed. When Laenor died it was the worst day of her life, her and laena wouldn't leave their chambers, mourning together it was like they died inside, but eventually they learned to live again.

She was present at Laenas wedding, and the birth of her first daughters. When Corlys returned from the battle of the stepstones with Daemon, it was when viserys really needed rhaenyra to return to kings landing. She invited Rhaenys to come with her and Laena as a lady in waiting. Rhaenys refused saying she had to stay since corlys was wounded, and so laena and rhaenyra set off to kings landing. The queen Alicent who once was Rhaenyras closest companion, was completely heartbroken about rhaenyra finding comfort in another noble lady.

She imagined every possible scenario where rhaenyra and her could reconcile, but once she saw Laena and Rhaenyra step through the door in the throne room that day all of that vanished.

Laena married Daeron Velaryon. She had two sons with him during her stay in kingslanding, that were clearly not daemons but Duty called and Daeron went off to Sea, but tragically died, he left Laena pregnant, her giving birth to another healthy baby girl. Rhaenyra was present during the birth of this girl, her being pregnant with Viserra and Rhaegar at the time.

While Rhaenyra was giving birth to all her children, Laena was busy running off with the commander of the city watch. Rhaenyra knew of this affair and she allowed it to happen, she wanted Laena to be happy.
Laenas children were looked after by the own maids that looked after rhaenyras. Their daughters and sons played together for a few years. Eventually Laena left kingslanding with her children, going off to a war that only concerned her house and harwin stayed, eventually going off to dorne. A tragic set of events happened resulting in both of their deaths.

Such sad memories Rhaenyra thought to herself, suddenly she felt Dany tug on her hand which snapped her back to reality.

"Mother could we go play?" Dany pleaded
"Yes, Yes go on my sweet girls" Rhaenyra nodded.
Viserra letting go of daemons hand, running off chasing Dany, Visenya only walked behind them muttering to herself. Daemon and Rhaenyra stopped in their tracks asking her what was wrong.
"Sorry it's nothing, i just need to get a few things from my chambers." Visenya said, she walked rapidly past her parents and into her own room.
the prince and princess kept walking, arriving to their chambers, walking in on most of their children just gossiping laughing.

"Oh mother is baelon back yet?" Viserys asked standing up from his seat, most of the children stood up making their way to rhaenyra and daemon.

"Be gently kids, your mother is very fragile right now." He said grabbing rhaenyras hand and helping her take seat on the chair.

"Mother are we allowed to leave and play now" Aegon asked, his younger sisters surrounded around him and his younger brothers sounding viserys, all crowded infront of rhaenyra.

"Yes lads give your mother some space, just please keep out of trouble" Daemon glared"and aegon viserys go find where your brother is" rhaenyra added

"Yes mother" and with that they all ran off to the yard.
Rhaenyra finally let out a deep sigh, looking up to her husband who gave her a sad smile.
