Chapter 14

Vegas pov:

Christmas was fun for the first time in my life. Holidays were now ending so, everyone was returning back for the term. Kinn told me about his Christmas party as soon as he came. Kim said that my father was looking unhappy but, didn't say anything or did anything.

"Is there a letter for me?" I asked walking in the Great Hall while Pete nodded at me. "Seems like your father finally remembered that you weren't home for Christmas," he said handing it to me. I opened it but, when I was about to read it, I heard a loud noise. Everyone in the Great Hall looked towards the door. Death eaters?

Professor Dumbledore quickly put the spells for protection so, that the Death Eaters couldn't walk further. "We need to leave. Get through that picture. It's a magical portal that Iawill lead you to Hogsemade. Make way for first years," he shouted flickering his wand at the picture. And suddenly, it opened. All the scared first years ran towards the picture. On the other side, the death eaters were trying to break the protection spells.

After what seemed like hours, they broke the spell. Only sixth and seventh year students were left, rest had gone to Hogsemade through the portal. Professor Dumbledore quickly closed the portal so, that no death Eater can enter. "My sixth and seventh years, don't worry. Protection will be provided soon, I have sent a message to the Ministry. In the meantime, protect your friends and the teachers will try their best to protect you," said the Headmaster.

I looked at Pete who was standing just next to me. I can't let him get hurt. "Stay close to me," I said holding his hand as he nodded. That's when a vulture looking death eater marched towards us. I used all the spells I knew. I have never dueled to death. Pete was also helping. And soon, we defeated the death eater who seemed rather annoyed than hurt.

"Vegas, help me please," I looked around to see Parkinson looking scared. "Go, help him," Pete said gesturing towards Tawan. "No.. I am not gonna leave you," I replied.

"Just go.. I will be fine,"

"No,"

"He is your friend,"

"So?"

"Help him for heaven's sake. I promise I'll just stand here and wait for you,"

"Promise?"

"Yeah now go,"

I went over to help Parkinson. At that time, a lot of witches working at the Ministry arrived. We were saved. I saw my father while fighting with a tall death eater. He looked worried. Was he worried about me? Pete's parents were also there. "Students, try to come near the portal. I will protect you as you try to go to Hogsemade," said Mr. Potter.

After defeating the death eater, I took Parkinson over the portal. "Vegas, go in," said Mr. Potter. "No, I have to look for Pete," I replied and he tried to thank me. "No, just go in," said my father marching towards us. I sighed. I don't have both time and energy for this.

"Pete," Mrs. Potter shouted. I quickly looked towards where Pete was. He was there fighting with a woman and her spell was about to hit him. "Noo," I shouted as I ran towards Pete. My father was shouting behind me but, I didn't care.

I reached there and quickly tried to use the disarming spell. "Are you okay, baby?" I asked him. Pete nodded but, he didn't look okay. I have to get rid of that woman and send him down to the portal soon.
