It took a long time—even the numbing creme that you'd persuaded Jeongguk to let you use on him required almost an hour to fully work—before you threw all the tissues in the trash with a sigh. Finally done.
The wounds had been closed up using stitches wherever they were needed, and then you'd bandaged him up.
"All done," you mumbled gently, running your fingers along the top of the bandages near his shoulders as you came to stand next to him. He was leaning his arms on the kitchen island and his head onto his forearms. Almost as if he was sleeping. But he wasn't, his big, round eyes were open and watching you.
Sleep. It was what your body longed for, exhaustion had settled into your bones a long time ago, but you had powered through, concentrating hard to get the stitches right.
"Thank you," he yawned, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. A smile pulled on your lips at the endearing vision in front of you. He might've been shirtless, bulging muscles out in the open for you to drool over, but Jeongguk was more than that.
You realized that it'd be hard to let him go. With all he'd been through, you wanted to continue helping him, to make sure that he was fine.
"Go to bed, you can sleep in the room where you got the clothes. There are extra toothbrushes in the bathroom there and everything, so just take one."
He got up and turned to walk out of the kitchen, and you began putting away his empty plate and all the supplies.
When there was no sound of footsteps leaving the room, you glanced over your shoulder to see Jeongguk still standing there. You thought he wanted to say something.
"Is there something wrong?" you asked, going to put the plate and utensils in the dishwasher.
"No, no. I just— nevermind," he interrupted himself. "It's nothing."
You saw him look to the floor where he stood in the doorway, seemingly swaying on his feet, not knowing if he should stay and say what he wanted to or if he should let it go and leave to the guestroom.
"Just tell me," you urged with a small smile. You didn't want to pressure Jeongguk, but you wished he'd tell you what was bothering him. Maybe you could help.
"I just really wanna sleep with you."
Your eyebrows shot up the same second he realized what he had said.
"No! Not like that, I'd never sleep with you like that, I just meant that I... I don't feel all that great sleeping in an unfamiliar bed by myself after what happened today, you know?"
His face was an endearing shade of red, his eyes wide open, and it only got cuter when he realized he'd said something else that could be taken in another way.
"No, fuck. I didn't mean that I wouldn't have sex with you because I would, I think you're gorgeous and super hot, but I meant that I—"
You couldn't help but giggle.
"I should just stop talking," he concluded, rubbing nervously at his neck and making a few muscles in his arm and abdomen tense. A few strands hung over his eyes, making you wish you could brush them away from his face.
I'm in love with you.
"It's okay, I do that, too." A lie. "Thank you for the compliments, though."
He met your eyes with surprised eyes and a sweet smile of his own. "Go get ready for bed, I'll be there in a second."
He didn't talk about anything regarding the day's events, except for a softly spoken 'thank you for getting me out of there, you saved me.' You accepted that, feeling alright by helping him with nothing more than your presence. The bed you slept in was a decent-sized one, allowing you to have some room between your bodies, Jeongguk laying on his front, facing you and you on your side, facing him.
